So I think I'm going to gift myself a .22 Mag for Christmas this year. I've always wanted a Henry, but I do plan on scoping it, so it may not be the best choice. The rifle's intended purpose is shooting varmints.
I also like the Ruger American Rimfires, and could get one for about half the cost of the Henry.
A semi-auto might also be nice for quick follow-up shots, hence the 10/22 Mag.
I'm sure there are other solid options I'm overlooking as well...

The 22mag is my absolute favorite caliber!!! It is so much more than what it seems like. Incredible power and accuracy, low noise level, and low cost ammo, so what more could you ask for? The ammo used to be about 1/2 or less what it is nowadays, and a lot more plentiful, but it is still around if you look. Plan on spending $12-15 bucks for 50. CCI MaxiMags have shot great in all guns we have had. Now we are down to a couple Marlin 25m's. Buy whatever fits you. Have fun!

I had a CZ American in .22 mag that was a really nice rifle and plenty accurate. I hated paying so much for the ammo, so I sold it a few years back.

Have you considered a 22 Hornet? Handloading you can easy beat 22 mag, and load down to mild loads around 22 LR speed. Stock up on powder and bullets against inflation.

.22 Hornet would be sweet, but I hunt a couple properties that specify .22 rimfire only.. no centerfire.

Well, I ordered myself a new predator caller (Western River Stalker 360), so I think I'll be picking up the cheapest of the 3 tomorrow. Rural King has the Ruger American listed at $280, plus 10% off right now. Hopefully they still have it in stock.

A .22 Hornet would be a great choice as it can be reloaded and accurate loads can be developed both light and heavier loads. The .22 Win. Mag. cannot and ammunition for it is over priced, thus the .22 Hornet would be cheaper and more versatile in the long run. CZ's Model 527 seems to be the most popular rifle, in this caliber, and is reasonable priced.

I was going to suggest a .223 downloaded with cast bullets, but since you are limited to rimfire only, I'd look at a rifle chambered for .17 WInchester Super Magnum. A wee bit flatter shooting than the .22 Mag.

That .17 WSM looks cool, but the property I was considering using it at specifies .22 caliber rimfire.

Had a Marlin that was VERY accurate. Sold it a few years after buying my .17 hm2 because I never shot the .22 mag again.

The reason I ask...I've been thinking about a good .22 Mag rifle for a few years and I'm real close to going with the Henry Pump Octagon in .22 Magnum.
