Has anyone harvested a deer using the 45 cal shockwave for muzzleloaders,if so did you get complete pass through?

Yeah I've used them,at least on does and button bucks, since that's all I see,but I've always gotten pass throughs with them.

I shoot a 50 cal Encore(3-50 pyrodex pellets+250 grain Shockwaves) with no complaints. I've dropped deer in tracks and have had them run.
Only negative I've seen was once when I dropped a deer at 15-20 yards and the bullet seperated from the jacket. Bullet lodged underskin on opposite side, while the jacket cut me while field dressing. The deer died immediately so I can't really complain about that. I've recovered every deer I've hit with them.

I use them with 100 grains of Blackhorn 209 in my in-line muzzle loaders and always get complete pass through's and usually good blood trails. They seem to open up good by the size of the exit hole. I use the ones with the special sabot that loads easier. They are slicker than the regular one. Can't think of what they are called now. I think they are the yellow sabots.

I'm currently trying T/C Super 45 XR sabots loaded with 180g XTP bullets but haven't shot a deer with it yet. Wanting to try it with Blackhorn 209 powder,I think that's what it's called anyway.

What kind of gun you using? I was using them out of my CVA optima but switched to powerbelts. I had good out comes with them. They recommend you use powerbelts for some reason. Idk what made me switch.

Are you thinking of Powerbelts? No they are T/C Shockwave bullets. They have two different type a material they make the sabots out of. One is slicker than the other and loads easier. I tried Powerbelts and didn't care for them. They didn't open up much and left faint blood trails for me.

Powerbelts suck in my experience. And tend to tumble in air evidenced by keyhole holes in target.

Idk what made me switch. My CVA Optima shoots Barnes sabots much better than the Powerbelts. More accurate and they don't tumble. I think the best sabot/powder combinations are gun dependent rather than by brand. My buddies CVA optima shoots Hornady's better than mine. You just have to pay the price and spend some time on the range. Trial and error until you are comfortable with what you are shooting.

Yeah,I still haven't found a combo I trust past 40 yards,that's why I'm wanting to try the 209 powder.

I have not shot my muzzleloader in 5 yrs I bet but used to be a tack driving machine with 90 grains of pyrodex and a 250 grain xtp bullet. Killed a few out to 130 yrds. Used a cheap 1-4x scope. Best off hand shot was a 90 yard shot. I would think 40 yrds with any muzzloader would be a chip shot.

250g Hornady SST's or 250g TC Shockwaves shoot the same for me (.451 or .452 bullet diameter in a 50 cal muzzleloader using MMP short sabots). 43g of powder for 23xxfps and they work. Shot deer out to 167 yds with that speed, pass thru. Changed powder lot and it was around 3-400 fps slower, and didn't get a pass thru at 200 yds.

I've used Pyrodex,Triple 7 granular and pellets,American Pioneer all used with 2 or 3 kinds of T/C sabots and lubed lead,Powerbelts and from 90g-150g of powder, still don't trust it beyond 40 yards,if I move back to 75 yards it's all over the target and even misses the target some. I'm using a T/C G2 Contender by the way.
