We are coming to take safety briefing on Saturday. Then going to shoot guns for next Sunday. I could meet up with you on either evening. Friday would actually work better for me since the wife and grandchildren are going to be out of town. I didn't know they gave safety trainings on the hunt day except very early in the morning before the hunt. They will have them Friday. We have decided to go down on Friday or we won't get any sleep at all. We'll eat dinner at Harry's Stone Grill and then head back to the Walmart parking lot. Harry's is just down the road east and on the south side of the road. I'm not sure what time we'll be there, but I'm guessing 5pm. You can call or text to see where we are at when you're there.

We hunted this weekend and I asked when we left this afternoon around noon how many had been checked in so far. They said 17 Saturday and 2 as of that time today. 1 of those was mine a yearling buck and my huntin partner checked a doe on Saturday. We seen 10 deer between the two of us over the weekend. Didn't hunt this afternoon. That was my first time going to BO, overall good experience. Only a couple aggravating things. Saturday I guess a guy got lost on our area that wasn't hunting our area. And was hollering out for his buddy then said buddy started laying on truck horn. Then today my partner had a guy come in after daylight and climb a tree 60 yards from him. But you'll have that in places like this and I usually hunt public ground and am used to it.

Me and treydog got home today from BO. We had a great time, but no harvest. We did see some though. I sure was hoping to get him his first deer this weekend, but he got his first shrimp cocktail instead.
We saved money by sleeping in donkey, but spent it on food! We did have a great weekend.

Years ago I used to hunt area 13 at Big Oaks. We got several out of there on shotgun hunts. I haven't hunted there for 7 or 8 yrs. The hunting in our area seemed to have "gone to crap" a couple yrs in a row so we bailed out for a year. We planned to check out a different area then my buddy got sick and eventually passed away, and I never went back. Is it as good as it used to be? Maybe I'll try again next year. Deer numbers are way down from what they used to be. In my opinion, too much hunting pressure, over harvest certain seasons during he past 15 years, and too many coyotes have resulted in a big decline in deer numbers.

Well, we have decided that we need to get off the ground. I finally broke down today and ordered a Summit Goliath (fatboy) climber. Trey will probably get one for birthday or Christmas.

I will let you know later this week to confirm. Planning on taking Friday off to hunt both Friday and Saturday.

Had an interesting experience in bo today. Someone in area 37 shot a doe fawn and either couldn't find it or decided to leave it. My buddy wanted to check out the area that they had vacated, so we moved to that spot. He went and set up and there she laid about 20 yards in front of him. He called me and we decided to gut, check, and donate it. That ended our day without seeing a deer from the stand, but with one in the truck. We will be there this weekend as well.
