Weekend should be very good. Deer should be moving and the bucks should start seeking. My borther took his huge buck on the 23rd of October, following a group of does.

One thing about high temps now is to an extent cold swings coming will most likely be intensified and trigger serious movement. Some scrapes are popping up so the antsy phase is coming...a cold snap might just kick it.

Going in to work this morning there were 7 does in the yard under the pin oaks. Turned out of driveway and about hit 2 more does standing in road. Half mile down the road were 2 more does in the road. Good morning to be out, they were moving. Didn't see any bucks.

Full moon warm temps = poor daytime movement. Front moving through Wed. Thur. so should equate to slightly better hunting. Pull one cam card over scrape. 4 bucks using , biggest a upper 130 class has been hitting around 11:30 p.m. through 1:00 a.m. 1.5 and 2.5 year olds hitting from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Still couple weeks before things get real good. Spending my time moving cams around looking to pin point trails the bigger bucks are using to set up on.

Crops are still on the ground. (about 50%) Food is plenty. So what is the motivation to leave the day bed especially with a full moon? I haven't hunted yet (except youth weekend with my grandson) and my cameras are showing very little. Need cold weather. Plenty of time to hunt left. Just letting the natural things happen and then I will hunt.

My camera has been busy every evening after dark to about 10pm, then around 4am. Only does and small bucks. Big buck owns the trees by the creek in the woods. Plenty of acorns for him.

I'll be in Florida for half of this week, so the weather can stay warm and hinder deer movement, but that's just for personal reasons. Weather hasn't cooperated at all for deer season so far. Looking forward to the weekend before Halloween and beyond. That's when things should start to heat up in the woods.

While it's nice to NOT freeze your bag off while in the tree, sweating it off isn't that much better. I'll patiently await for the proper weather. As I have gotten older, the job gets more demanding, and the kids get more involved in activities, I have learned to chose only the best days to be in the woods. Record highs, record high-lows, and 30 mph winds are not what I am looking for.

Good news it's in the spring and is finished by turkey opening day. I coached soccer for 25 years both recreational and select, plus baseball and little basketball. All coaching is behind me and I quit playing soccer at the age of 48. Now I can get back to hunting. I just need to retire now, only 7 more years I hope. I don't mind the cold. My 1st 10pt in 1987 it was 3 degrees first light and 8 around 11am when I got him.

You're correct: Deer are moving at night with the full moon & with the unseasonable warm weather.
