Oh young fella, it's very possible that you'll still be waiting on Dec 1st. Last year was a very tough deer season for me, and I was actually glad to see it end. I was beat. Some years are like this, and some years it seems so easy. This is hunting and we just take the good with the bad. I have five good shooter bucks (for me), that we certainly will not pass on, but it will take the Grace of God to see one of them when we're there hunting. We know they're in the area, and have been all year, but... All we can do is the best we can do and be in the woods as much as possible without them knowing we were there. If not for the overwhelming desire to breed, we'd never see a buck in the daylight unless he's still hanging around mom. This great sport will humble a hunter, and that's a good way to be. Yes I am fully in tune with how it goes. just a little sarcasm. I'm hoping for the best but I know the reality is I could get skunked no matter my preperation and time spent. Nonetheless I will enjoy every moment of it. That's the attitude.

Taking my wife out Wednesday evening. Almost 90 for a high. It will be her first time. Hope to see a few to get her blood pumping maybe get a shot but to stay cool and bug free will be good enough.

Quiet night, 1 doe about 100 yards out in the beans. I took the shot...Just kidding! These city deer are smart. I feel like they get hip on me and start moving later and later

Went this morning, had a fawn around me for 15 minutes, mom no where around. To young to shoot let it walk.

I'm gonna have to take a video next time I'm at my uncles place in Evansville to show how smart they are lol. Gets a scoop of corn every evening after work and walks out back to feed them. 6-8 deer follow behind like lost puppies and line up as he pours a trail out. Some have eaten from their hands over the years. Pretty neat to watch them.

Good! City deer are smart. I've seen the same thing. I live just inside the I-275 Cincinnati loop and the deer (does and bucks) after 2 yrs old go nocturnal year-round. Only during the rut do I see them. They come out around 10PM and return around 5am. The only time I see them during the day is around 9-11 am during the rut. After the neighbor city noise settle down. I'm amazed how quickly it gets after everyone goes to work or school.

Got to spend a few minutes in a stand today after getting the new double stand hung up for youth weekend. Lot later than I would have liked to hang it but better than never. Not ideal weather to pack and hang stands but felt good to sit back and look around afterwards.

Well, ladies first! I know some may not approve of this but it was her first time hunting and I told her to shoot. A fawn was taken tonight. 10 yards in front of the blind and she made a perfect shot. Pretty cool to hear her talk after the shot. "Did you see that!?!" "I just shot a deer!" She was pretty geeked up and I really enjoyed sharing that with her. That moment reminds me of how this effects "most" (not including PETA people) new hunters when they unlock our natural instincs to hunt and eat. Memories made for a lifetime. Deer is butchered and in the cooler. The back straps were so tender they almost ripped apart when I was cutting away from the back! A great night and very lucky and happy to live under God's Grace and harvest this animal with my best friend. Cheers Gents!
