I used to have a cabin near Dugger. There was roughly 30,000 acres of public ground within about a 20 minute drive.

OK, I'm from Vanderburgh county so I knew about Hoveys, Bluegrass, Sugar ridge. I just thought you meant there was a huge one here 11,000 plus acres. I'm a little slow but I got it now Thanks.

15 acres is my home. Ag fields and woods. Taken 2 bucks in the last two years both over 200 lbs in a tough county. The acreage may matter, but not to me. I work all year to attract and hold deer. As they say size doesn't matter (thank goodness) but preparation of what you have does. Just my thinking and experience.....

Private land in Benton county. 40 acres of which 25 are wooded with creek running through. I share with landowner and his adult son who usually just hunt gun opening weekend, I can hunt whenever I want all seasons. I maintain all the stands, and clearing shooting lanes in return. Land has produced several nice corn fed bucks over the years. Very appreciative of the hunting privileges.

Read back posts by Jon on this thread. Somethjng about a fat handicapped guy. LOL You have to admit it was pretty funny. I was very hesitant to post that to cindy, as we don't know her really well, but she has been around a while. I thought she might know my sense of humor, and figured she knew us better than we knew her.

my situation is pretty unique. i own 40 acres all woods. however, three of my friends purchased all the property around mine including 40 acre plot, 55 acres plot, and a 120 acre plot. all property lines are adjacent to each other for a total of 255 wooded acres in parke county off sugar creek.

My dad owns 5 acres of woods and swamp next to a couple of lakes in Steuben County we hunt on. It is a pass-thru property for the deer between their bedding area (in the main part of the swap this property is next to) and their water and food source (corn and bean fields / lakes). It has produced deer for our family every year we have hunted it, sometimes multiple deer per season. We always see DOZENS of deer herded up in the area, year-round.
We also hunt a 22 acre farm and woods owned by friends of the family in Huntington County. Shot my 8-pointer on that property a few years ago. Don't see as many deer on that property as we do in Steuben, but we see more bucks in Huntington.
Unfortunately, both properties are right next to bigger properties hunted by their respective landowners who keep trying to pressure us to stop hunting (so they can hog all the deer for themselves). So every year we spin the roulette wheel to see what is going to happen with the neighbors. But regardless of what shenanigans they pull, we refuse to be bullied out. This year we are stepping up our efforts and getting video evidence of the hunter harassment the neighbors like to commit against us in hopes the DNR will intervene and put a stop to it once and for all.

Small world. Where you turn right to go to the public land, mine is on the left up the hill.
