Head shots only on squirrels? That's a given regardless what you are shooting them with. This is my favorite. Mossberg B-46-B, 22S-L-LR. Took this pic before I put a big Barska Scope on it. With the shorts it's quiet as any air gun and most suppressed guns. With the LR option and may be Stingers you can make good use of a quality scope. This IS with out doubt the most accurate 22 I own. Second choice would be my Marlin 17HMR. It's just louder, more accurate, reaches further. I've got the same Barska scope on it as the Mossberg. This isn't something you really use much to shoot Chips off the bottom porch step though. Is that scope for the blind ? You can probably see further than that rifle can shoot with a scope that big. Lol

Lol Well you don't see any of mine there shot through the guts or anything else but the head do ya? It's not quite as long as it looks with the sun shade on it but it's still pretty big and it's got a huge light sucking optical. 4x16x50 I think. Maybe just x12x may be. With a little tiny lighted red dot in the middle. I love 'em. Got a few almost exactly like it on that 22, on the 223 and on the 17HMR. All just alike. Yep, even with my "old eyes" I can see a long way, shoot a long way, and I can do most of it at night if there's much moon light. Not killed any beavers with the 22 short but I've killed truck loads with the rest. Beavers, chipmunks, squirrels, coyotes. 20 yards to 300 all with the same type scopes, different guns. Been a long long time since I had to shoot a squirrel twice or any where other than the head though. Won't say never, I know better than that but long enough I don't remember it. I've shot a few with another of those 48-B rifles, with shorts, using the irons. I love those original target front sights and the original iron peeps. There are several options for the front sight blade you can just flip up or down like a pocket knife. I can't remember them all but I've knocked a few squirrels out of the very top of the highest oak trees around here with 22 shorts and those iron target sights. It was enough to make ME feel pretty perky about it. That's not an easy head shot to make.

I may carry the 12ga but also have .22 or .17hmr Hum, I got a couple shotguns I could use for squirrels to. I been saving them in case I go completely blind and have to start shooting at their barking noise but who knows. I might be deaf to by then.

A howitzer! Well, no worries about foliage in the way with that - has to be hard on the habitat though.

Shoot them in the face! Early on I'll opt for the Mossberg Model 500, .410. Later, my Crockett .32 caliber muzzleloader or my Marlin Model 39M, then maybe my Ruger MKIII Hunter.......robin

OK, we'll have to recheck zero; even a minor change can throw it off.

The .410 did it's job again! Opening day I had to work so it was late before I could get to the woods. I took a few shots at ones in the top of trees but missed. This one was crossing the trail & only made it half way.

Well I got the Beretta Neos sighted in about as good as I guess will be at 15 yds. Not good enough for headshots, but we'll see:

My Takedown 10/22! That's another story. After resetting and securing the scope, she is dialed in better than ever with the CCI AR Tactical at 25 yards. Headshots all the way with this baby! Now I just need to make it out to the woods!

I need as many projectiles flying in the direction of my target as possible. I need to get my eyes checked before deer season.

This one was crossing the trail & only made it half way. My very first real gun was a 410 like that one. Mine is a Western Auto brand, I'm sure some other company made these for Western Auto, full choke 3 shot bolt action. Killed my first of about everything besides deer and turkey with it close to 45 years ago. I don't remember what age I was probably six or seven when Dad got it for me, but the first time I shot it with 3" shells it kick me so hard it brought tears to my eyes. Dad got me some light 2-3/4 shells for awhile until I got a little tougher. I recently restored it. I refinished the stock myself and took it to a guy that does hot blueing and he did that. It turned out nice.

Mine is a Mossberg .410 with a 3 shot magazine & 3 interchangeable chokes. Or I used to have all 3, two of them got lost along the way. It is a good shooter....er when I do my part, eyes are not as good as they used to be. I shot only 2.5"s through until just lately I found the 3" reaches out there a little better, I try to stay with 4 or 5 shot hunting squirrel or rabbit.

Pretty sure Mossberg made mine also and Westen Auto rebadged it with their name. I need to get mine out and fire a few rounds through it.
