Went out to check my camera last week and was surprised to find 3 (maybe 17 years old) teenagers standing in front of the camera smoking a joint. Laughing and pointing but never touched the camera. Glad they didn't take it. I moved it to say the least. Brought it into the deeper pines and put up a cheap ladder stand along a trail I was surprised to find. Worked out in my favor to push me to go find a new spot for the camera.
I had a bag of driveway salt left over from winter (ECO Freindly brand, no harmful additives) dug a hole and then put a cheap mineral block on top of it. Hope the rain dissolves the block and mixes with the salt. Bought some Glysophate (round up) concentrate at Lowes and took the pump sprayer to do some work. Had to clean some walking lanes and kill over brush growth. Easier than mowing it all down.
I think I will hang my last stand during an evening this week as it will be cooler. I need to get them out ASAP so they get used to them.

I've been afraid of putting out minerals that weren't in a bucket or tub. I don't have the strength or equipment to dig up the site for hunting season. However, I guess if I my stand is far enough away, it wouldn't matter.

I got one on me yesterday and all I did was spray my food plot. I hate the thought of them sucking my vital blood draining the life out of me. Hey, I think I'll start calling my stepson tick, maybe leech. I've had three latched on me this year, and it takes a while for that area to heal.

I have tried Sawyers bug spray, Promethean? It seems to help with Mosquitoes and the ticks. Now that you mention it I need a new bottle.

I moved my stand yesterday and was in the woods too, but didn't get any on me. I've got one spot on my leg that has been tougher to heal than all the cuts and scratches I get on my legs. Those ticks are nasty.

The smell is noticeable but I don't think it effects the deer. I am miserable in the stand when I have to keep swatting bugs away. Sweating and covered in mosquitoes...no thanks!
