There is going to be a fun shoot In April for Indiana. Check GTA forums. Can you post a link to that particular thread? I can't search without signing up.

Thanks. Bummer, sounds like when I will be out of state for business. Sounds like a few don't know how to use an AO to range a target and have the large elevation turret marked in yards... That is as long as a laser rangefinder is verbotten.

.72 cal beast. Some expensive stuff there also. Someone who just thinks of Walmart for airguns would be blown away by this expo. I'm pretty impressed with those booths myself.

WARNING:::
Stay away from GAMO SCOPES. They are junk. I've had three of them fall apart on me. They are fine for a while then the insides get lose and the accuracy and precision goes to Hell.
I need to buy a good scope that can take the action of an Springer Air Rifle with Inert Gas Technology for propelling the pellets. The forward and reverse recoil of a springer air rifle will tear apart poorly built scopes.
I have two of the Gamo Air Rifles that use EGT and both the scopes on them are JUNK now.
What I'm looking for is a good scope that won't fall apart on the Gamo Bone Collector and the Gamo Whisper Air Rifles.

AcesWildAA, thanks for posting the link. It just inspired me to start planning a trip next year back to Germany. It's been since 1990. This time with my wife and schedule this trip to see GTA and also visit my long lost relatives from both sides of my family. Thanks again.

I have one on my XL1100 and it's got massive double recoil. Holding up fine.

IF you can find one, the old Simmons 44Mag scopes hold up very well. 6.5-20x44 with AO and target turrets. I have them on both my springers and I can't tell you how many 1,000's of pellets they've seen. Just as clear as a Leupold VXIII except way out at the edge of the field of view.

I have one on my XL1100 and it's got massive double recoil. Holding up fine. That is what I've read too. The UTG scopes are made for these type of springer air rifles. I have a Walther's Scope on it right now but have not sighted it in yet on the Gamo Whisper Fusion Air Rifle. I'll do that some day soon in the side yard. I use the bone collector to dispatch a Fox Squirrel the other day. I go him on the first shot and wounded him and finished him off with another shot at about 35 yards. That's about where I had the Gamo Scope on this Gamo Rifle sighted in. But then a few days later I saw a rabbit out in the back yard at about the same range. I missed him with two shots. Both went over his head and were high. As I was reloading (single shot) I lost sight of the rabbit and he must have made a break for it. He froze in place when I fired the first shot and so I got another shot at him. But he didn't stick around for a third shot. I would have aimed low on the third shot. How I hit the squirrel twice and missed the rabbit is a mystery. My only though it that the scope has ZERO precision and it won't shoot the same way very long. The cross hairs are loose in the scope and not dependable. The scope is just not reliable. It may be my shooting but I've always been pretty good with that rifle when it was new. I could get very good precision at 30 yards when it was new after I sighted it in from a shooting bench and had a good stable platform to shoot from. I have a Caldwell shooting bag that I use for sighting the scopes/rifles in and can use a lead sled if necessary to sight in all my rifles.

Jim Chapmans take on airgun hunting. Pretty much my feelings exactly on the sport. youtu.be/t9wCeoDWhe8

I just ended a neighborhood groundhog with a .177 Gamo Hunter at 25-30 yards. Lung shot it and it reacted like a squirrel getting hit similarly with a .22 solid.
I put two more into it even though it was doing the tail wiggle!

I cut down the trigger spring in my NP2 a while back, that was a vast improvement.
I haven't had to do anything to my Silent Cat, it's been easy to shoot right out of the box.
