This morning started out with a lot of gobbling that ended shortly after fly down. The rain started and nothing was heard for a few hours so I decided on a nap and Mother's Day dinner. After my nap I found out that grandma had been taken to the er as she's been dizzy the last two days. After checking on her and everything was okay I stepped out back to hear a faint gobble. The. Another faint gobble. I got ready as quickly as possible and walked down the woods about 100 yards. I gave a few short soft calls and got cut off by back to back gobbles. He closed the distance and gobbled for the next 20 minutes. I stopped all calling and he couldn't take it. Came down one hill and crested the hill I was on and ten steppes later he was done. First run and gun gobbler as the rest have been from the security of a blind. Awesome hunt.

Thanks feather duster. My grandpa bought this farm when he was 19 from his mother. It's a 105 acre piece of land. He told his four daughters that whenever they could afford to he would give each 3 acres to build on. My mom and dad were the first to biuild in 2006. Almost every great memory I have from the time I can remember has been on this farm. I'm very blessed.

Thanks bowhunterjohn. Congrats to you too! Unfortunately it looks like we will have to settle for second place! Haha. Maybe next year! That spur got us.. LOL.. Second ain't bad either ! My bird was light in weight, we shot 3 other birds at this spot and they were all over 23lbs, on almost 25lbs.. however mine was kickin all their butts evidently.. he was the only one not to have damage from fighting.. Congrats again

We had four gobblers. Dad killed one and it also had a nub for one spur. Mine had a nub and it was actually still bleeding. Also his skin on his leg was all broke up from an apparent fight I guess. There were 3 jakes that ran around causing problems so mine could've been fending them off. Haha. Second isn't bad but the first loser! Haha. Thanks and congrats to you too. Next year we can team up again.

I've always wondered about if i could do the film thing. You look like you have it down pat! I think it would be hard on me and dad in our small blind. I like that name though. Sure beats "team 5". Haha.

Yes, a couple months ago, I still saw a big tom with two hens, but now the hens are with the poults. I spooked them this week; it was cool to see the poults fly away with mom.
