Good looking rifle!
little tip, when you store it after cleaning, put it muzzle down so any residual oil drains out rather than puddling in the patent breech.

Thank you and yes it's very nice. I figured that was common sense but I suppose not everyone would figure that out.

I can't see a pin through the ramrod tip. Easy to do if there is not one. Drill a hole through the tip and the rod a little smaller than a finishing nail. Chamfer each side mabe 1/3 bigger than the hole. Cut the nail about the same size as your ramrod diameter 3/8" I think. Tap the pin through and gently peen first one side then the other until they fill the chamfer. File flush and call it done they will brown after a few uses. This will prevent the "Ramrod tip stuck in breech" thread.
Nice job on cleaning her up.

Oh absolutely I agree! There's something about shooting a "primitive " style of gun that I can't explain it but you know what I mean.

Thank you sir. My rr is fine perhaps someone else posted that thread. she's shooting nicely although I need a lot of practice with it. From the pics you posted I do not see a cross pin, there may be one just not visible in the photo. When we had our club shoots I removed several TC ramrod tips for folks. With luck a CO2 discharger did the job. Others we used a few grains of 4f and popped them out. I shot my first muzzle loader 50 years ago. Mostly originals as there was not a lot of repros then. I have been hooked ever since. Lots of fun.

Off the top of my head no I don't think there is one. I haven't had any problems with it getting stuck but perhaps I will stop it before it happens and do as you stated.

From what I was told when I bought the gun it is around 30 yrs old. My boss sold it to me for his neighbor and said he's had it as long as he's known him .

I've never pinned any of mine but then I've never stuck one either. If there is no ball in there I can't see it being that hard to get out and even if it's loaded I'd probably just shoot it out and buy another tip.
