SquirrelHunter, great rifle. It appears that the 30-06 has a big following!
Alex, that suppressor ought to be a good one. It was created by SWR before SilencerCo bought them out. I used to have a SWR H.E.M.S. 45 suppressor and the quality was awesome.

A .308 sounding like a 22LR just don't seem right, but it is great for hunting, not having to wear earbuds or muffs.

Photo of one of my favorite Deer Rifles. It's a Smith & Wesson Model "B" (made in Sweden by Husqvarna for them) caliber .308 Winchester. Shot a ton of Deer with this rifle in both Colorado and here in Kentucky. VERY ACCURATE too!! With my handloads, 5-shot groups are < .750" @ 100 yards, using Sierra 150 grain S.P.B.T. bullets and 45.0 grains of Varget.

Looks good. I'm going to try 165-grain Hornady SST's and 44 grains of Varget.

This is my most cherished rifle. It's a Remington 700 BDL custom deluxe in .243 Winchester. I restocked it with a takeoff Remington 700 CDL stock to get rid of the shiny finish of the BDL stock it came with. I've taken nearly 100 coyotes with this rifle. I'll most definitely be using it for deer next fall.

That's a fine rifle, and it's obvious that you are very proficient with it!

If I opt to use one it will be this. A Savage Hog Hunter in 308. Older pic. It has a Vortex Diamondback HP 4-16 with see through rings because this gun comes from Savage with irons. I'm not crazy about the stock though and would like to swap it out. It is threaded from the factory for suppressor use. That looks like a sweet shooter. That stock reminds me of the Hogue that came on mine from the factory. Is it solid synthetic or rubber overmolded? Factory threading is nice too (mine was), as it saves me the cost of sending it off and paying good money to have it threaded right. Forgot to reply to this. It is solid synthetic and has a nice cushy butt pad on it. I just don't like how the barrel fits.

I hope to get that kind of performance, but some of the shot locations are hard to determine from the video. I only take broadside shots into the ribcage.

Legal, but I doubt I'll ever use it What caliber? Looks just like a Remington 700 varmint rifle I once owned in .22-250, except my stock was camo.

Legal, but I doubt I'll ever use it Medic, Why not? Looks like a fine rifle. Public land hunting only? That would be my reason. Jim Edit to add. On my land I never need more than a 35 yard shot. Don't need a rifle for that.

My shotgun scopes are 3X max at the low end and they are always set at the lowest magnification. Oh yeah, I don't like heavy either especially going uphill with a pack! LOL! My old knees and hips get mad at me and make me pay......

It is an sps varmint in 308 I just picked up a .308 Handi-Rifle that I traded my .357 Max Handi-Rifle for at a small local shop I had it transferred through, and they had a camo version of your .308 Varmint on the rack.

For being what I call an entry level 700 it is capable of shooting much better than I can, even with the molded cheapo stock.

I traded my recently-acquired .357 Maximum Handi-Rifle frame and barrel yesterday for a .308 Winchester version (I kept my stock set that Genesis 27:3 had dipped for me.) This will be my back-up rifle, for use when the weather is bad. (I have no idea why the photo is upside down. It was right on my phone, and I tried unsuccessfully to flip or rotate it on hunt101.com.)
