Been reviewed many times over the past few years so unless there is something new the answer is the same, it works when you are sitting in one spot but it won't work if your walking.

Also check out youtube on how to make your own repellant refills & butane cartridge refills for the Thermacell. I have done both & they work well.

I owned one and even bought the replacement cartages for it , and I will say that I never will buy one ever again ,it did not work , I was trying to watch 4th of July fireworks , finally I sprayed myself with OFF and was able to continue to watch the fireworks . I gave it to a young man who wanted one .

I've learned it's all about wind direction when using them. If it's calm out they work great. If windy, it has to be placed upwind from you. I believe in winds greater than 5 mph mosquitos can't fly against it so you are relatively safe.
