I buy a combo hunt fish licence every year. When it comes to deer, I only hunt my property. Not spending near 30 dollars to kill a deer. And id bet five dollars to a donut most others would forego the deer tag cost if they could.

Only folks that should be Voteing are Land Owners with huntable land.... All other are a mute point .... IMO Very easy to vote Yes if your not a land owner! talk about Kings and serfs... That's like saying only politicians should vote. No! That's like saying if you don't have a job and pay taxes you shouldn't be allowed to vote. I am not a huntable land owner but agree on their side. If you do not own land that is huntable you do not have a dog in this fight. If anything at all the landowners need tax breaks for what they provide for the wildlife.

As a landowner and lifelong hunter... I vote no..... I plant critter friendly plants and trees on my land as well as bird feeders and seed all at my own expense with zero help from the state, I have lived on this land 11 years and have seen the deer numbers decimated around me in that time, I myself have taken just one deer in that same amount of time, and until the IDNR figures out how to properly manage the resources they are entrusted with then I can see no reason why we should give them a cent more to squander and waste.

I have lifetime and own property. I buy a fishing license every year and purchase the wildlife license plate for my truck. I see no need for another tax on my property if my lifetime is already counted in the P-R fund.

Very interesting debate. Over here it is completely different. Deer belong to whoever's ground it's on one could belong to five folks a day lol And no hunting licences No co, no biologists just the countryside and wildlife law. So different to you. And a lot simpler. Lol Regards Billy

The money is collected from a tax on Firearms ,ammo etc. Then given back to the states dependent on licenses sold in that state If you don't buy a license and show a 1 dollar profit you don't get the PR money Then why do we receive money each year on lifetime license. No profit on them

I have a lifetime license and I owned a farm for hunting at one time but wage cuts to keep our jobs forced me to sell. With this in mind I do not feel a land owner (not renter) should be forced to by a license every year (that is why I got the lifetime) but I do think there should be a way to account for them to receive fed money. I know Gov waste lots of money but I would rather our state waste it here than it being wasted in some other state where I do not benifet at all. If MY lifetime license receives fed pr money each year then why not issue a land owner lifetime license (to be used on thier land only) for a nomanal fee of $3.75. This one time license could then be called a wildlife donation and deducted from thier taxes. By doing this the state would receive PR tax money, would have a way to know how meny land owners hunt (and there sucess rate) land owners that hunt just thier own proper would not have to buy some type of yearly license, the owners that hunt other ground would not have to buy 2 license to hunt. This seems like a win win type of situation to me. Woody, I did not vote in the poll because I there was not a catagory to vote on renters using land owners tags. You should be able to assertain my vote from this post Onebentarrow

I assume because the LTL is counted the same and valid every year your alive as if you had purchased a annual license it counts for receiving the PR .

In that case then every time a person checks in a deer with a landowner tag catalog it the same way and collect the money from the feds.

Last I knew there was about 150,000 lifetime hunting licenses. As I understand it they are counted every year as licensed hunters BUT there is an declining attrition rate as some hunters will quit hunting and some will die off.

talk about Kings and serfs... That's like saying only politicians should vote. If you do not own land that is huntable you do not have a dog in this fight. The question posed goes well beyond huntable land owners and affects everyone who owns land. Its always give and take, we give a little, .gov takes a lot. They already tax us for life on land purchased. They have enough money to waste. If DNR or any other state agency needs money, maybe they should cut out their wasteful spending, i bet they magically find lots of money to use on land purchases. I also disagree up thread where it was mention the state owns the deer. Nobody owns the deer, the state just gave themselves the right to regulate the deer.

The land belongs to the land owner, not the game. They too should have to purchase a license at FULL price to hunt. No Exceptions.

I'm a land owner and typically buy a fishing and hunting license because I fish all over and occasionally squirrel hunt on a friends place. I do not buy deer tags to hunt my own place, and none of my friends or family need to have a fishing license to fish my pond.
When you consider that private land owners provide the majority of the habitat in Indiana for the game to reside on, it should be blatantly obvious that they do far more for the fish and game of the state than any non land owning sportsman. Why shouldn't they enjoy this small perk?
I don't claim to know much about the Indiana DNR's finances, but if they are anything like most other government agencies there is plenty of waste to clean up, before they need to start taking more. If you feel strongly that the IDNR needs more money to operate on, send them a check.

NO. Landowner's pay enough. I would agree that majority of landowner's purchase license's already and are responsible for majority of wildlife improvement's. Just because you pay additional monies to government doesn't mean those monies will be used for what they were intended for.
