Sad indeed. However I have lost most respect for the Supreme Court as an institution. When any schoolchild can predict how votes will go based on the members known political leanings, it tells me that politics rules rather than serious analysis of the issues rules the day.
It would be great to see a new Justice that is not set in stone as a conservative or liberal, but rather as an intellectual and scholar that has worked their way up through the ranks, and has no particular political leanings. Fat chance though.
What happens in a 4-4 tie? Anybody know?

This post of mine might seem a bit on the "Tin Hat" side; but we must not rule out foul play, contributing to his death. It seems rather strange that if one has health issues, a Hunting Trip, would be out-of-the-question. Watching TV news clips, on Fox news, of Justice Scalia, it seems like he was in good health for his age of 79. Guess they will find out what he died from but will they tell us the truth?? R.I.P. Justice Scalia

I dont imagine we will ever find out. I read somewhere that a funeral home picked the body up from the hotel, that pretty well destroys any chance that they are investigating foul play or performing an autopsy.

Just seem strange to me, that a healthy 79 year old would die that sudden. I would think a man of his intelligence would know if he were too ill or not in good health, would go on a hunt outing. Seems like when the Democrats get behind in ratings, something major happens to divert public attention from the up-coming elections and cause disruptions.

My favorite justice, and to my knowledge the only one of the nine who kept a copy of the Constitution on his person at all times. R.I.P. Antonin Scalia, they don't make them like you anymore. ?

I'm not sure about Obama but if Hillary was president I'd really be concerned how he died...

79 and pretty overweight - a prime candidate for any number of maladies. Most likely heart or stroke.
The President and the Senate need to do their jobs by the Constition - nominate, then confirm or reject. Do your jobs, and quit following personal agendas. That is not why you were sent there.

Definitely not unheard for someone to die suddenly for no reason. If Hillary was involved she would say something like "as soon as the elevator doors opened we had to hit the ground to avoid sniper fire from ar-15 assault rifles and thought none of us were hit until we woke up the next morning and discovered justice scalia had died from wounds he sustained during the gunfire"

Ive seen a couple hundred dead bodies, more than enough were seemingly healthy individuals that just randomly died.
As far as Obie becoming a justice, Hilary would never give him that much power over her.

When a person suddenly dies without signs of any illness contributing to death; an autopsy is normally done. This rules out foul play, and is required by law. Heard on the news early this morning that no autopsy will be performed on Justice Scalia, which is very strange.
