HB1231 includes language the Natural Resources Commission denied last year for inclusion of high power rifles. Senator Arnold or one of his friends apparently wants to use some HPR but this allows for everything from .243 on up with no limits on actions or magazine capacities. The bill will be heard in the House Natural Resources Committee next Monday.

Jack IF, and that is a BIG IF, this passes the DNR director can designate a one day season and antlerless only. Pretty well what they did way back when the legislature passed a crossbow bill..

It also authorizes the following:
Authorizes the use of purple marks to post real property against trespassers.
To be clear I am not against HPRs but I do want restrictions on autoloaders as far as magazine capacity. It already sounds like a firefight on opening day. Seems to me the 60 day comment period and study by the DNR should overrule some legislator whose presenting this proposal.

Jack, Do you think the limitation on number of cartridges would eliminate some of the fear mainly from the north part of the state that the HPR proposal brought out?

It may alleviate some concerns especially fears of folks emptying 30 round magazines from AK-47's. It won't do anything for those who fear some high caliber bullets travelling long distances to homes. Again it is not individual calibers that are the problem. It is high capacity magazines in autoloaders for deer hunting.

Works for me if it's still against the law to trespass paint or signs without permission just don't want some one saying didn't see paint so assumed it was ok to enter

Like all issues where guns are involved, it is the person in control of the gun that is the issue.

I think I can disagree with both subjects in this thread. My 2 pennies worth is a 30-06 shell will go a heck of a lot farther than muzzle loader will, and furthermore to me, it doesn't matter how many shells you can throw out of it. It only takes 1 bullet to kill, sure you increase your odds of getting the animal if you throw more lead down stream.
This whole purple thing to I just can't see what was wrong with signs being posted, now don't get me wrong, I'm just as mad as the next guy when it comes to having to go out and put up signs every year, however on the other side of the coin for me is, if you are going out to check on your property, pull the SD card out of your camera to see what has been going on. Clear out some shooting lanes and such you are already out there if a sign has gone missing just put up a new one. I think that just comes with owning some property.
The one thing I do agree with is if someone is going to trespass they are going to do it regardless of what color of paint you throw around. I've gotten rid of meth labs on my property right after I bought the land at the base of a tree with a posted sign on it.

If the trespassing law goes through, I got dibbs on the first purple paint store to open for business. I will sell in bulk and give all the members here a big discount. LOL
