The more familiar I become with my muzzleloader the better I like it. I like the fact that I can decide which bullets I want to use with which powder to me its like having the ability to custom load cartridges on the fly and without all the added reloading equipment it is quite convenient. They are accurate also!

Ok this may seem another daft question but here goes. When i finish stalking, going over a fence or moving position i pull the bolt back to make the rifle one hundred per cent safe. And when i am totally finished i remove the ammo from the rifle by removing the mag. I think i understand you can pull the bolt back and primer with it? But i assume you have to fire a muzzleloader to be completley safe when one gets home? Am i right or wrong again, lol regards Billy You have two choices when you want to empty your ML. The first is of course fire it off. If its a black powder or black powder substitute your using you will have to clean it. Kind of a pain in the keister. If its one of the true smokeless ML just shoot it and put it away. Second choice is get your breech plug wrench out and remove the breech plug and empty the powder and push the bullet out the breech end. If you don't have a removable breech plug ,like on a side lock ML, you use a screw on the end of the ram rod and pull the bullet out from the muzzle end. They also make a adapter that uses the CO2 cartridges to push the bullet out with air pressure. But most of us don't empty them till the season is over.
