I'm looking for a cheap winch less than 50$ is an absolute must, any ideas on a do it yourself electric winch or is boat trailer winch basically all I am looking at in my range? It won't be used often and won't lift a whole lot but I'd like for it to have around 1/2 ton capacity

Also I'd be using it in my garage so 110v or a way to get it 110v would be ideal

yeah I also looked around on eBay I just don't know about telling my wife I want a 50$ winch for processing deer when she knows I can do it by hand. I just figure if I could piece something together with smaller purchases I'd get away with it easier.

Does it have to be electric? I have used one of my come-alongs for many years now to hoist my deer for processing.
I put a piece of scrap steel beam across four of the ceiling joists and installed a heavy duty eyebolt through the ceiling and the beam, to spread the load, back when I was pulling an engine from my son's Monte Carlo, about 35 years ago. Used two of the come-alongs to hoist that engine/tranny combo, one attached to each end of the engine so we could tilt it as needed.
That worked so well I began using that "sky hook" and a hand winch for the deer,
I like to process them head up, so I usually just rope them right behind the head and run the rope through the eyebolt and down to the come-along, which is tied to a rope around the leg of my workbench (it's WAY heavy and also fastened to the wall behind it).

Just buy a boat crank (2000 pound) from walmart for 20 bucks with the line and attach it to a beam in your barn. Got three in my barn. Works great.

Don't know where you are at but I replaced the winch on my 4 wheeler. It's battery operated but get you a cheap battery and u should be good to go. Been in my barn for awhile. Have the solenoid and I think the switch. Not sure on the on off switch. You can have if you come get. It does need cable buy that should be cheap. For deer should be able to use any from Lowes. Anyway you want it you can have it.
