Well, we're working on another gun for a friend of mine. He has a Hi-Point C9 and he was ready to "junk" it because the magazine won't stay in the gun. I told him I would break it down and see what we could do with it. After popping the grips, I saw that the hold open spring was stretched. Flipped it over and the mag catch spring was gone...nothing there. After some contemplation I decided to call Hi-Point. They hooked me up immediately with a guy in repairs and he simply took my name and address after verifying the gun model and said I would have a complete mag assembly within a week at no charge. I told him I don't own the gun, that it was used, and I was trying to repair it for a friend. He said No Problem! They would rather have their guns operating safely wherever they are! So, we'll see how they come through! Keep y'all posted. Here are my findings so far: Left side: Right side:

Since I am a proud owner of a $50 Hi-Point C9 this is good to hear. I slam my magazine in fairly hard and it locks just fine. Best $50 handgun I've ever bought. It is heavy and bulky and I'd never use it as a carry gun, but home defense it works. Being heavy it doesn't have near the jump my Kahr CM9 has..

Great response from Hi-Point. They shipped me the mag assembly parts (double actually) and free of charge. When I broke the gun completely down, I found that the firing pin, spring, doll and cup were not correct and/or missing. So, I called them back and they said they now have an upgrade and are sending that as well. I'm getting photos of this and will post when complete.

I've always heard good on their customer service. I have had a couple hi-points in on trade and always enjoy shooting them before sending off to the next guy. Probably going to keep the next one. I think they would make a great dresser or truck gun

The Hi Point C9 got the test tonight after the work I've done for my buddy to take his "junk" gun and see how she would run. You can read a ton about the negatives with this gun and I agree with most of them. The gun is not a quick and easy break down. It's heavy. And you can read the rest elsewhere. Beyond that...after thumping some boxes of Wolf and Sellier & Bellot through her with no mercy...and I mean short of abusing the gun...THIS BABY ROCKS!!! So, I repaired with the new parts as seen here mag assembly and firing pin assembly parts. Hi Point sent me everything free of charge. Excellent customer service. After repairs, I found the feed ramp on this gun was nasty with some kind of coating. It would not feed consistently at all. I Flitz polished it and gave the gun a thorough cleaning. Then I tuned the magazine. All of this you can find on youtube. My buddy and I put this gun through some serious rapid fire! Tried to make it jam. Fail to feed! Stovepipe! You name it. Not a single problem! She ate every bit of ammo and spit it out perfectly! The only thing that surprised me was the amount of muzzle flash. Be glad for some input there! Above all, this sliding brick of fire is freaking accurate! I only show the first 8 shots my buddy took with the gun from ~10 yards. As the evening went on, we got better. If I find one of these in my area for $50...dang well better believe I'm plunkin" down some cash!

My neighbor bought a High Point AR15 and let me shoot it for a week before he came and took it back. I was impressed with it's accuracy. I first shot it with an old Gamo Pellet Gun 4X Rifle Scope slapped onto it using a Cheap Scope riser mount that I bought locally. The barrel is a 1:9 twist rate and it handled my Hornady 223 55 gr. V-Max bullets great. I was shooting sub MOA at 100 yard easily using a Caldwell Tack Driver Shooting Bag only. After he took it back I had to go out and get me an AR15. I went with the Ambush Firearms AR15 from Daniel Defense with didn't shoot the 55 gr VMax as well as the High Point did at 100 yards. I later learned that the AB AR15 has a 1:7 twist rate in it's barrel and shoots the heavier longer bullets better than the 55 gr bullets. The High Point AR15 cost my neighbor $700 and my Ambush Firearms AR15 retails for $1750. I did a little research on High Point after this and found that they are out in TX and make pretty good guns for less money.
