I have a new hero. I'd really like to get a .450BM in a Rem R-15 VTR hunter camo. I wonder how many people frown on using a gun like this? Some do for sure...personally for me it is a frown or smile, it is just a "I don't get it kinda thing". Don't make it wrong though, and if it thrills someone else and it's legal I say GO FOR IT!

I love my Marlin 1894 Stainless 44 mag Lever Action Nikon Prostaff scope. Two main reasons, looks and firepower. I have shot up to 3 deer at a time several times. The gun is very accurate with the right hand loads. I was able to take a doe at a measured 200 yrds a couple years ago. I had to aim a foot over her back but it was a pass through instant kill.

I've recently acquired a Winchester 94AE in .44Mag for this upcoming season. Hoping to get rid of a few guns before I purchase the scope/rings I want for it. It shoots great with the iron sights, I'd trust it (and myself) out to 75 yards with it, but I'd rather have the scope (Leupold VX1 2-7x33) just for personal preference.

Buy the 2-7X33 Leupold scope with Heavy Duplex cross hairs. This is great for hunting in brush or wooded areas.

When IN started allowing the centerfire rifles, a buddy and I had a couple of them built. I'm not a fan of the little lever guns or carbines, so we started with Tikka T-3, bolt action rifles in .308 Win and had them re-barreled to the .375 Whisper cartridge. Topped mine with a 3x9 Leupold VX-2. These are real nice, low recoil rifles that give 300 yard capability.
Ammo is a little interesting. You start with a 7mm BR brass, neck it up to .375, then trim to proper length before reloading with proper powder charge and a 220gr bullet.
For Illinois, I use a Savage 110 bolt action 12ga with rifled barrel, topped with a 3x9 Leupold VX-2. Shoot the Federal 2-3/4" Barnes Copper Expanders till I run out. Can't find these rounds anymore.

I don't know what a heavy duplex cross hair is? ...coarse, thicker?

However, I'm trying to decide between the 2-7x33 or the 1-4x20. Decisions, decisions....thoughts?

I like the 20mm tube on a levergun and 1-4x will be all you need with that round. I have a FX2 2.5X fixed on my 44Mag and never felt the need for more. I don't care for the heavy duplex as I find it distracting, to each his own.

I primarily use my Thompson Encore pistol in .308 caliber when hunting in Indiana. The pistol is topped with a Burris 2 x 7 x 32 scope. One shot is all you need. I did get 3 deer in one sit a few years ago. Got two does and then a good buck about 20 minutes later. The does were part of a group in a thicket and the buck I saw about 120 yards away along the edge. It had been tough and my time was about out. Season over for me. I also have my Remington 870 rifled barrel with a cantilever mount Leupold shotgun scope. Love those Remington Accutips. Super accurate and body slamming power.

My hunting guns aren't near as fancy as most of you guys. They still get the job done though. Remington 870 that my parents bought me when I was in high school. I have the smooth bore slug barrel for it. The revolver is a Taurus 44 mag. with the 8 3/8" barrel. I've killed 3 deer with it.

Excalibur Grizzly crossbow until November 14th. Then either of these come out. Foreground CVA Wolf 50cal ML. Background CVA Scout 44mag. Or choice of REM 1100 or 870 smoothbore 12ga.

I just finish this up today. Remington 700 358 Hoosier. Thank you AJ Brown for working your magic on the action and barrel. I fit and floated the barrel in the stock. I pillared and bedded the action and then refinished the stock. I topped it off with a new Vortex scope. This next week I hope to be headed to the range to see what it can do. It's been about a 3 year wait saving my pennies to get this thing built, can't wait to fire it up. For now I will be shooting production ammo. Once I get enough brass stock piled then I will be starting my first reloading project to really tune it up.. This Remington 700MLS 50cal has been with me since about 1994. It's been a real good shooter. Last year I finally decided to get rid of the plastic and go wood. I fit and floated the barrel and then drilled the ram rod channel. I think my next project is to bed the action.

Don't know own how to post pictures. But my weapons of choice are. 1. A 444 Marlin shortened to legal limit. 2. My hand cannon in 308.
