Picked me up a new Shield in 9mm today. Like the looks and feel of it with exception of extremely stiff springs in action and mags. Hopefully, a few hundred rounds will settle them down a little.
Likely won't get to shoot it before Monday.
Anybody here have one of these? If so, how do you like it?

I've never shot one, but my grandson in law is an Evansville police officer and it is his personal carry gun. I've handled it and it looks and feels very nice.

I would suggest putting some rounds through it before using it as a carry gun. Many are fine but there have been some reported cycling issues with them on another forum and links to other sites from that forum reporting the same issues.

I have one and are 100% satisfied with it in every aspect. I spent a enormous amount of time researching and doing SbS comparisons of sub compacts from: <>S&W,<>Glock,<>CZ,<>Sig,<>Ruger,<>Springfield/A,<>Walther, and Kahr. In the end I chose the Shield because it had the best trigger of any I tested and by far felt best in my hand. It's accuracy is much better than needed in a personal defense firearm and if I wish the trigger (DIY) is easily upgraded at a reasonable price.
I carry mine in one of two ways. #1-in a Desantis pocket holster, #2-In a Alien Gear 3.0 IWB holster. I don't suffer from blind loyalty to any firearm manufacturer, but I feel as strongly as possible in its sub-$350 price range there is simply no netter firearm out there. I did ASAP order a Peirce Grip extension for it so now all my fingers have a resting place.
The only con to it is: <>Didn't come with a legit gun case like 99% every other firearm does these days. I've seen them on line often for $339.99, and on occasion for as little as $329.99. If lucky like I and your FFL guy is cheap, it becomes a excellent deal. I can be outfitted with a good IWB holster and gun for under $400, WITH TAX!
I personally don't shoot mine much past 15 yards, and most times at 21-30 feet, because those are the likely actual distances one would be dealing with in a (pray God forbid) armed encounter out side the home. I don't think I'm wrong in my thinking if I'm shooting at some one at 20-25 yards let alone beyond, I will most likely find myself in deep legal trouble, as unless there shooting at you, you will be hard pressed to prove to a DA and even worse a jury how someone 60-75 feet away posed a emanate threat to your life.
Even after owning mine for over three years I still perfer it over all else thats out there.

I did considerable research before deciding on the Shield. Handled it and several other similar guns. The new Glock 43 is a nice single stack 9, but they sure are proud of 'em!
It won't be my every day carry until I give it a good wringing out at the range.
Ended up buying from gunbuyer.com for $339, free shipping and $15 transfer fee.
I think that I'm going to like it fine.

The S&W Shield is a nice gun.
I wonder if you looked at the new Ruger LC9S Pro or LC9S model? The trigger on the LC9S Pro is sweet.
And how do you like the Alien Gear Tuck 3.0? I have one on order already. More specifically does the top tab of material cover the hole when trying to holster the gun one handed? I guess that depends on body shape and carry position on your body.
I have the Alien Gear Tuck 1.0 and the Alien Gear Tuck 2.0 now. I tried carrying my Walthers PPQ M2 in both and found that the gun was heavy and made my pants fall down unless I cinched up the belt tighter. That was not comfortable. I wore my Alien Gear OWB holster yesterday all day long. And it was hot yesterday too. I wore a pair of 511 tactical shorts and a white "T" shirt under a 2X large T shirt. The combination of wearing two shirts made for a hot muggy day and I was in a bad mood the entire time. Next time I won't wear the White T Shirt under the other T Shirt. I only do that when I carry IWB in order to give some friction to the Alien Gear inside surface so the gun/holster doesn't slip down so easily on my body. I found that the extra material from the under shirt helps keep the gun/holster combo up and my pants don't want to side down as much. But yesterday I wore the Alien Gear OWB holster and didn't need the undershirt. I'm still trying to figure this concealed carry stuff out.
My Ruger LC9S Pro has a sweet trigger. It's very light and smooth. I say it's as smooth as my Walther PPQ M2 Trigger right now.
I can't wait to get the Alien Gear Tuck 3.0 with the spring steel plate inside it. They designed it to help hold that top tab of material up and out of the way of the opening for the gun in the holster.
I'm heavy and only 5'10" and the tab on the Alien Gear Tuck 2.0 wants to push over the hole in the top of the Kydex gun opening and that makes it harder to get the gun back into the holster. The Tuck 2 is very comfortable but it also want to slip down along the side of my body and pull my pants down with it. Especially when I carried the Walthers. The Walthers PPQ is heavier and is a double stack magazine with more weight and bullets.

I did look at the LC9S, it was a toss up between the two. The fact that the Shield comes with 2 mags caused me to lean in the direction.
As far as holsters- I like Uncle Mike's IWB holsters. Inexpensive and comfortable. I actually have an Alien Gear Tuck II that I bought with 2 shells: XD 9 sc, and Smith J frame. Carried with it around the house for one day, then went back to Uncle Mike's. As with other things, one size, or type, doesn't fit all.
Any more I usually carry in cross draw position. I've read most of the arguments for and against, it's comfortable and it works for me. And, the Shield just kind of disappears.

How do I like my Alien gear 3.0 Tuck? after having worn it a goodly amount over the last six weeks I am completely satisfied with it. Would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a great ballance of VG functionality and afordability.

I honestly don't know, their website I would imagine, should be able to explain that. Based on the differences in appearance, I THINK, the 3.0 is more adjustable/customizable, but I might be wrong.

I bought my Shield over 2 years ago long before the newest version of the LC9 was made, and yes I specifically considered and examined the LC9, and discounted it because of it's long and vague trigger. As a matter of fact long, heavy, gritty, triggers with lots of stacking was why I didn't buy most of the HG's I originally listed and IIRC, the Shield was one of if not the first run series of M&P HG's with their new and improved trigger advertised with a 5.5-6lb trigger pull. Mine is exactly 6.0lbs with almost no creep, zero stacking and nearly zero over travel. I forgot to add in my original post I also felt S&W screwed up in failing to include a magazine loader with the Shield, as its 1-1/2 stacked magazines are a ( insert your expletive of choice here) to load with bare, unassisted fingers. I bought a inexpensive universal mag loader, from Sportsman's Guide, it's red made of plastic and sorry but I forget who makes it. It does work vary well, especially after you load the first round, as a matter of fact with my Shield mags I load the first round by hand then using the loader I described, it uses the first loaded bullet to depress the follower and loading the remaining bullets couldn't be easier.

You're absolutely right about the loading difficulty! I'm gonna see it the loader for my XD will work with these. Trouble is, we're planning to move ant it's packed away somewhere! But, overall, I like the Shield.

I have the 9&40. The 40 has more snap so I prefer the exstended mag for more control when I shoot it. I like both and they carry the sme. Dave
