Hey, is a deer's heart of the left side of the body like ours?

I believe it just hangs in the center based on the fact that the apex of the heart is pointing down. I don't think it's closer to one side or another like ours, but even our heart isn't completely to the left side of the body, the apex just happens to point to the left, so you get a bit more on the left side.

Thanks chub!
So then if a shot is coming from an elevated position, and the deer is broadside with heart as target, the aim spot would be the same for either exposed side???

Yes, I believe so. Heart should be just just behind the elbow. Even if you are shooting down at a steeper angle where the arrow tends to land a little higher, you will still drill them in the lungs.

Do yourself a favor and go for the lungs! The heart is perhaps the tastiest part of a deer.
Many years ago, on Thanksgiving morning, my brother and I each shot a doe and neither heart was damaged. Our parents were hosting the family gathering and their house was full of relatives when we finally got the skinning done and the deer were hanging to cool. I cut the heart into 1/4 slices, breaded lightly with flour, salt, and pepper. I then pan fried the cuts to just a little past rare and put the platter on the dining room table. GONE! It was like feeding pizza to a bunch of drunk frat boys.

I always go for the lungs - that way if I peek (my favorite mistake) I still have the heart to hit.
