Just interested to see what is being used. If possible please explain why you are using your choice. I am using a compound bow as I really enjoy shooting it and practicing with it. Low maintenance and lightweight. Started with a crossbow and moved to compound a couple of years back. Thanks for any responses

I have to use a crossbow. But would rather use a compound. I have injured my elbow and can not practice with a compound with out a lot of pain for 2 to 3 days after. I would rather use my compound but it is what it is

If you don't mind click next to your choice on the poll. Thanks a bunch!

Crossbow for me. I started with it last year. I've had cheap compound bows when I was a kid. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. That's why I went with a crossbow.

Compound. Hoyt Rampage XT. I loved shooting the very first bow My dad got for me when I was 11 and as I got older I got more into it and have had this bow for 5 years now.

I use my Bear finesse compound early season. I also will use a Excalibur Axiom crossbow for cold days, super windy days or days my back and shoulders hurt. Love my compound as it's quieter and much lighter but the crossbow works when conditions are questionable for a good safe kill shot.

I wonder how many people use crossbows just because they want to instead of not being able to use compound. I've got this new gadget that might enable me to use a compound, not sure yet. I'll try it tomorrow.
Not hunting long, I wasn't around when there was a stigma attached to them, so I think they're cool. However, I would want a different weapon for the Zombie Apocalypse.
I guess even if this new gadget enables me, I'll probably buy a better crossbow. Why? Because Jon Snow thinks they're cool!

Xbow, if I go. Hurt my back last November and the doctors have yet to fix me. Would ne tough sitting waiting for a deer.
I hunted with compount for roughly 20 yrs, recurve for 4 - 5 yrs and xbow for 2 yrs. My plan was to use compound this year but now it is just get well enough I can wake up and go work or hunt without all the pain. I have not even catfished this year..........

Poll didn't seem to allow multi voting. I will use a compound mostly, if I get enough practice time. On cold days, I will use xbow.

Recurve; I found 2-3 years ago I was loosing interest in archery and decided I needed to try something different. I shot an early 70's Bear recurve back in my younger days and decided to give it a try again. I'm enjoying myself now more than I ever did. Have a 71/72 Grizzly and KMag and think I will try to find a similar vintage SuperK; shot a guy's at the club shoot on Sunday and really liked it. There is a price to pay though - passed 3 deer last season that I could have shot with a compound. Don't be surprised to see a 1.5 yr old shot this year, when you use traditional equipment you can't be picky.

I switched to a crossbow because I simply did not have the adequate time to practice with a compound. Before kids and career changes for me and the wife, I shot my compound nearly every day from August 1st on throughout the season. I just don't have the time anymore and feel that the crossbow is a more ethical choice for me.

I have been shooting a compound bow since I was a kid and just love it. Also I don't have anything against crossbows if I had one I would use it every once in awhile just like I do my slug gun.

Compound. Already clicked.
Been bowhunting for 54 years this year. Started with a cheap hardware store all-fiberglass "recurve" that probably actually pulled about half its supposed draw weight. Fortunately didn't shoot anything with it except practice targets in the back yard. Upgraded to used 48# Bear Kodiak the following year and joined a local club to get better advice. Hooked on it ever since.
Switched to compound in late '60's or early '70's with a used Jennings four-wheeler, and bought my first NEW bow when Jennings brought out the two wheeler a few years later.
Still have a target recurve hanging in the garage. May dust it off if the old shoulder ever gets all the strength back, but my hunting bow will likely always be a compound from now on.
Bought a couple crossbows while rehabbing from a stroke five years ago while I wasn't sure if I'd ever shoot "a real bow" again. 8^)
Sold the last one when I was again able to shoot hunting weight compound.
I wouldn't completely rule out another crossbow, if needed in the future. Could see myself using one before sitting at home in October.
Finally learning to shoot a release after all those years of finger shooting. "old dogs...new tricks".

I checked compound because that is all I've used in the past. However, I may sneak out a time or two with my son's crossbow if he has his back turned.

My new deer killer... The 370 fps Horton Storm RDX by TenPoint.. How does your ACU draw work and how much noise does it make? This is a very nice weapon. Any idea what 10 point changed when they got it from Horton?

I wonder if someday when my walls are filling up if I'll look more for a challenge? I only have two, and each with a different weapon. This is fun for me as it gives a different experience and memory. I'm thinking that I'm too old to jump out of a tree with a pointy stick, but maybe someday, I'll look for a bigger challenge... I hope. LOL You da man Dave.
