Now that turkey season is over, I am switching to deer mode. I have a few stands to move, food plots to freshen up, and cameras to hang to try and get some sort of idea where the deer are traveling. I did some scouting while the snow was still on the ground and found some heavily used trails. I think I'll put cameras on these trails and see how heavy they still are traveled or if it's just a winter thing.
Broadheads are back in the case and field tips reapplied. Going to my first 3D shoot Sunday and will be hitting my home bow range and the archery club as much as possible now. Bow season is just 4 1/2 months away!

I share your anticipation. Come on October! I need to set stands on the lease, replace my tether connect in the tree on my place and another property in Clark county and check my stand straps.

I've never gotten into turkeys because of deer season. Turkey season is a HUGE time habitat wise between hinging, prepping spring plots, checking stands, moving stands, hanging new ones....way too many things to do to try turkey hunting, but some year I'll get bit by the bug I'm sure.

Oh man, I think you'd love it. You are a blessed man to have so much to do with deer season that you can't hunt turkey. Not much to do on my 10 acres. LOL

I guess it depends on your hunting strategy. I leased land in a proven turkey county and hunted from a blind. It was light weight and easy to move. Didn't even think about hunting from a tree stand but, then again, this was my first year and I got skunked. Started the season knowing a little, ended knowing a lot more thanks to several people on this forum. Also, didn't even consider food plots. When it comes to deer though I do plant for their benefit and make a strong time commitment. I see deer as a greater habitat commitment but , then again, based on my approach or strategy. My motivation to hunt turkeys was to learn something new. My thinking is that if I stop learning, I start dying, and I am not ready for that. LOL. I'll be back next spring for sure. Sorta wondering about the fall as I don't want to give up deer hunting time. On the other hand if I come across a turkey while deer hunting (archery).......... Edit to add: You have an interesting web site I'll give the Insider Club a try for 2015 since I am on 15 acres. Something else to learn.

LOL Up until 2012 we only could do habitat work on 10 acres and our weekends were still usually filled with hinging, cutting and stand maintenance...not quite as much but still a lot to do.

There's a lot of fish to be caught between now and October That is exactly where my attention is turning. Was thinking about putting the charger on my bass boat today, coincidentally. Had to charge my ATV based sprayer first as I have a field to "nuke". Got me to thinking about fishing via battery charging. Is that convoluted thinking or what? ?

There's a lot of fish to be caught between now and October Coming in loud and clear on the fishing topic, however I was doing on with the deer season being 5+ months away until I read this thread now there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. I bet the wife will have the lawyer on speed dial when she finds out that I'm starting to get pumped up about deer hunting this early in the season.
