My brother and I for years sat in Earl's yard under a shade tree drinking a beer as the race teams filed into the track and on numerous occasions Earl would come out and sit with us just to chat. I always admired his work ethics because here was a man that could sit and enjoy some of the most prestigious events in racing at his "bullring" but instead he would be doing everything from grooming the racing surface to repairing the plumbing in the bathrooms. After he sold Eldora to Tony Stewart that track was never the same it went from a gritty home of the OUTLAWS to a NASCAR wantabee track. RIP EARL BALTES.

Godspeed Earl. He has done more for dirt track racing than anyone or any group. He will be missed.
