No kidding, but the ones who do that, albeit few, will be the employer of those who think it beneath their dignity to actually work for a buck.

I gotta hand it to my 7 yr old grandson Seth. He grabbed his shovel and came with his Dad and I as we worked all day cleaning driveways! And he worked hard too...til I started a snowball fight. Gotta have some fun too! But he got the best of me with this baby!!

I grew up in the country. Sometimes we'd have to shovel the driveway, but now we go get the neighbors tractor to dig us out. Then I plow the neighbors too.

My driveway is very long, and with this last heavy snow event, had to find a way to clear it enough inorder to drive out. Called several individuals down here and none would do the job. I even offered a very generous amount of money for the job. People down here seem to be on the lazy side IMO!! I removed enough snow myself so I could "slide-out" my driveway, we had 17" of snow fall here!!

I was amazed when we had our first snow...there was a group of 3 young men that walked from door to door on their snow day to shovel driveways in our neighborhood. One even walked at least a half mile across the field (in 6" of snow) in the back of the subdivision to come join his buddies. There is some hope left after all.

When I still lived in town a few years ago we had kids in our neighborhood that still did it,I got asked if they could several times but I plowed myself out and a neighbor with the 4 wheeler. Out here I plow a neighbor's too and would others but they pay to have it done,I do it for free.

I did it when I was a kid and now at 50 I'm still doing it but I use a Kubota now days instead of a shovel and seldom charge for it especially neighbors, friends. If I load up the tractor and head in town I do charge, but in this day and age I'm leery doing it because of liability.

If we lived in town I know my 15 year old would love to shovel sidewalks. He does it here at home without being asked. He loves earning money for fishing lures/tackle. It seems to me also that most people in town don't know their neighbors like they used to. Times have changed doesn't mean the younger generation don't like to earn money.
