By the looks of your find, it's going to take lot & lots of restoring. Probably cost more than the M/L is worth.

Check the drill and tap job on the scope mount. I have seen more than a few bubba port jobs. biggrin2 I heard GM is no longer making their drop-in barrels but I have not tried to confirm that. Also check threads in the nipple hole. Track used to sell a replacement breech plug that matched TC

It almost looks like the barrel at the muzzle was painted. If the tap job is not too deep I know a barrel maker that might be able to cut the grooves deeper and smooth out the bore to a .52 or so. www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Category.aspx/632

Some ugly ones turn out pretty good with a lotta TLC.

It looks like browning covered by paint. If the serial number has a K in it that means sold as a kit gun.

I came to the same conclusion on the paint over browning after fiddling with the pics. Im rather optimistic. I think the vast majority of what at first looked like corrosion is just flaked paint. Hoping to meet up and make the trade today or tomorrow.
IF thats the case...I scored big time on this one. Regardless. The lock alone is worth what Ill have in it

sure is. had sights and all the brass hardware on it. just add nipple.
turns out its been shot, but very little. Guy I bought it from had never shot it or even mounted it but someone down the line had. no biggie. still a steal imo

I can't wait to hear how it shoots. Try some .445 round balls and some thin denim 100% cotton material. Should shoot good with that load. You can take the breech plug out of the old barrel and have a different caliber barrel fit to it for more fun.
