This story isn't what I expected to be reading about tonight. Awful. Thank you for your service to those children. While stupidity can easily overcome rational thought, I hope the parents have enough sense to be grateful instead of seeking revenge. Stay safe and never second guess your reaction today.

A very horrible situation in which it seems like there will be no winners no matter what you do. Thank God you found them before it was too late. I pray that this incident will be a wake-up call for the parents to clean up their act and become a catalyst for positive changes in their children's lives.

I have a feeling that what happened won't be a wake up call to the parents. If it was, they wouldn't be over at m4madness place yellling at him, they would be thanking him for what he did.
I agree, letting the police know about them coming over was a good call.

This stuff makes me sick... And it comes full circle when unchecked. As in, this morning I was headed to the duck draw at 4:30 a, going 60 mph, and approaching a dirty/gravel cross road. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a car coming quickly, about a quarter mile from the intersection, but I thought well they'll probably just jam on the breaks as they approach. As I get about 300 yards from the intersection, the car disappears behind a house wrapped in trees, so I, for the first time in my life, decide to slow up and make sure the car stops, and all the sudden I see the car going every bit of 60 mph go right through the intersection without stopping. If I didn't stop I wouldn't be typing this now. That person, was no doubt on drugs, and has clearly never had a wake up call, and could be the parents of these kids. If you didn't intervene, somebody was going to be seriously hurt, and at least you did all you could, to not only the kids, but everybody else they may crosses paths with tonight.

M4 - you and your wife are saviors and saints. Thank goodness the ladies can still hear high pitched noises better than us.

I think I would be having a firearm handy too. What trash to do that to kids.

I usually can control my emotions when bad things happen in life but those who abuse a child, brings out the very worst in me. Those that stand the tallest are those that stoop to help a child. You stood tall tonight.

You and your wife are more of what the world needs, thanks to you and her for a job well done.
If this should ever happen to you again or to anyone of us reading this don't try and confront the family, simply take the children to your vehicle or away from danger and immediately call the police to meet you at your location. I would hate to see a good samaritan get hurt by some person high on drugs while your trying to do a good deed.

Definitely did the right thing. Hopefully they're out of that situation for good. Keep an eye out for the deadbeat parents.. I agree, Please keep an eye on these "Deadbeat" So-called Parents. These type of people have no business having five children, and I bet it was just to collect welfare. They belong in Jail!!!

U may have lost a day hunting but you saved a life. That is. A trade I would make any time. And if u had not stepped in just think how much you would be beating your self up when you found out a child had died in the cold and wet and you could have made a difference. Thank you for doing the right thing instead of being a me first, do not want to get involved type. Wish this world had more people like you Sincerely Onebentarrow

M4, good job! Just watch your back[and your wife's]. Make sure you lock your place down tight when you go to work. Hopefully the local police will keep an eye on you AND your home/property.

Found a kid a 3 year old in town once that had walked half way across town across the highway was in his pajamas it was nighttime and winter with bunches of snow on the ground put kid in car headed to the cops we went and found the kids mom she didn't have a clue where he even was she lost the kid for a little bit wonder how long it would've taken her to realize he was even gone... drugs really make poor parents out of people unfortunately it produces children that have no clue how to act in society. it has been probably 8 years ago will never forget it or regret it! I'm sure you won't either and it was a far better reward than anything you would've found hunting thank goodness for the women with good hearing in our lives also

You and your wife deserve a huge pat on that back hopefully the 2 deadbeat parents dont give you any trouble and end up in jail for the disregard of the children. When I hear of mis treating children it makes sick to my stomach. again good job to you and your wife

Warms the heart much more than any amount of cold weather gear you can think of putting on to go out and sit in the woods. You sir, and your wife are living proof that saints walk among us today. Ofcourse you definitely handled it a lot better than I would ever dream of. I would probably be sitting in the jail cell with the parents after I had a go at them. No excuse for that type of parenting in this world, god bless you and everything you do.
