Ever stand at bottom of ridge/hill and shoot upward parallel to ground....it happens!! Oh, I'm sure that it does too, just not at my hands. Most of my hunting is done near the tops of wooded ridges with my shots going down into the hollows. It would be a rare occurrence for a deer to be at a higher elevation than I.

Judging from what he had said in previous threads and given the fact he called it "silly" to shoot a rifle at an upward angle, I took his main point as being we should never shoot a HPR into the air.
Maybe I'm wrong.

Be one freakish accident to kill someone a mile away with a .22 Terminal velocity of a 20gr bullet with the aerodynamics of a pebble can't be that fast .... I'm surprised it would have enough energy to kill. Oh believe me it did I am still looking for the incident, when I was sent for training to Cornwall this fatal incident was quoted to get it through to us that just because it's a 22 it is still a killer at distance. From what I remember it was fmj army stuff he fired. Will ask some other rangers tomorrow if they remember the name of the incident. Regards Billy

Greetings. Yes I would be more concerned folk firing up trees or skylines than shooting deer with a hpr on level ground. The bullet will hit the ground just after passing through its target, that's if it does not blow up. That's On level ground. Don't fire the hpr at steep angles and there is nothing to fear, but none of us can legislate against idiots. Winchester subsonic over here are 40gr not 20. Regards Billy
