Opening weekend was pretty good for a couple of young hunters and a old fat guy... About 11:00 am my younger son, Owen, shot this doe, his first deer ever. He and I were sitting together and I looked over and this doe was about 45 yards away. He got his muzzle loader up and ready and I said shoot, he did and bang flop.... and not to be out done by his younger brother, my older son, Ethan shot this doe at about 3:30. This was his first deer ever. Ethan was hunting with another friend but this deer, came down the hill in fron tof them and it got 13 yards away and Ethan fired up his smoke pole and scored. Both boys killed their first deer on the same day. Its already been an AWESOME season, it can only get better from here... Both went home Sunday evening, I stayed and hunted Monday morning, and I scored with a HUGE doe in the snow, so my garage looks like this... Like I said the season could only get better.... Now the butchering (work) begins...

That's great.... I remember my two brothers first deer. They shot two I believe does from the same stand on the same day. And the deer were both in the same spot. One shot one in the morning the other at night. I want to say with the same gun as well. I remember them telling me where they shot and the first deer was easy to find in the day light. And that night my brother said it was standing right there and I said yea but this bloods from brother ones deer that morning and he said no that's where it was standing. I started looking and sure enough I found fresh blood. They dies within feet of each other. I gutted them out for them and put the second ones gutts on the first ones in the creek bed... It was a good memory.. BB

I'm glad both boys scored on the same day. Had only one got his deer, the other might have felt left out. Now they both have bragging rights!

As one of the guys at hunting camp said, "you couldn't knock the smiles off their faces with a hammer..."
It was a good weekend....

The hunter in me says congratulations. The woman in me says that back corner of the garage is in serious need of reorganizing.
