I have been deer hunting now for 28 years, 26 of them successful. Prior to that it was pheasant and rabbits while growing up in Benton Co.

I first went deer hunting around 1985(?) but I did not decide to get serious until 1995 when I had a button buck in range but only had a buck tag in my pocket the last weekend of firearms season. The following year I obtained a lifetime comprehensive hunting and fishing license and have been knocking down one or two (sometimes three when I'm greedy) ever since. I'm still trying to get a decent buck someday, I'm think I'm due.

I think the poll options were flawed and we are actually a bunch of spring chickens.

Back in 1989 I was a freshman in high school. My best friend's family were all deer hunters and all my buddy would ever talk about was deer hunting. So I tagged along with him (without a gun or license) on opening day of firearms season that year to see what it was like and got to watch a real nice 8 point chase a doe all around a giant beanfield in front of us. The excitement of it all really got me hooked instantly. Back then my buddies family used to have places all over where we could do deer drives and that season I got to be one of the "pushers" and really loved it. The following season my dad bought me an 870 Remington and I started deer hunting. So, I've been at it for 24 years and I'm still learning. I have killed several bucks but I am still looking for that elusive giant. I have had my opportunities over the years but things never seem to pan out quite right. It took me 3 years to kill my first deer but I've pretty much taken at least one deer every year since. When I started hunting you couldn't just buy a doe tag, you had to go get in line at your local check station at 4am and wait until they started passing them out and then hope you got there early enough to get one. You guys remember those days? It was like hitting the lottery if you scored a doe tag!
