Just wondering how you guys think this warmer weather we are having is going to affect the rut? Do you think its going to get pushed back into shotgun or do you think it has more to do with the moon phase? Thanks.

You just opened a can of worms. There are lots of opinions on the timing of the rut.
The one that makes the most sense to me is that the rut will happen at the same time every year. This is because of the doe's breeding cycle.
The warmer temps and moon phases I think are when the time of the day we see the rut. Full moon at night they can see better. Warmer temperatures maybe they want to keep cool doing the deed and do it at night.

Yes & No. Having warmer than normal temps + a full moon phase will have some affect on Rutting. HOWEVER, if it cools off with daytime temps in the low 50's and night drop down into the upper 20's to low 30's your chances of seeing Deer increase, during daylight hours, despite the full moon. I've taken several Deer when there was a full moon some were afternoon harvests too, but the temps were in the 40's. If the warm weather is still around during firearm season then; then I would hunt deep in the woods during morning hours, up to noon, and again in late afternoon, until sunset. But lets hope the weather is much colder than what we're having now. Here, where I am, the temps are predicted to drop in to the upper 20's during the weekend, just hope we have that type weather during our firearm season. Deer will be moving more if the temps are cold despite the moon phase.

My experience is: THE RUT will take place same time every year. Weather, moon phase, hunting pressure can all limit daytime activity. Not sure where you are from?? Local forecast for southern Indiana actually show's some unseasonal lows for this weekend. Low's projected to be in high 20's and low 30's with chance of snow flurries Saturday. Next week (1st week Nov) temps look to be normal for this time of year. First weemk of November I normally see seeking and chasing phase of RUT kicking into high gear. I anticipate this to be the case this year.

Expecting frost Saturday morning with a good freeze (mid 20's), with some snow flurries on Sunday. However it is going to warm back up to the 60's by next week, still will have good cool nights when our rifle season opens on the 8th of November.

Same time annually! Daytime activity & intensity based on the temps. since the deer have already put-on their winter coats.
