I've recently made and installed a few lifelines on some single ladder stand, now I want to add a couple to double stands. Sitting here thinking about it, I foresee the extra width of the seat being a problem.
The rope would have to either be slack enough to slip around the back side after you climb up, or taught in front of the stand and in the way.
How has anyone dealt with this?

I run it down the front leg of the sand and secure it to the bottom step of the ladder that way I can slide the know up as I climb the ladder , I put it on the left side if you are facing the ladder, that way if I slip I just fall to the side of the ladder and can climb up the back side it if

That is how I have my single stands setup, except I have it on the right side and didn't see the need to tie it any lower than the third or fourth step.
My question is for double stands. If you tie it in this manner on a double stand the rope will come up over the seat and be in the way.

Haven't done it yet myself, but what comes to mind is a separate tether for climbing up and down and for use once securely in the stand. I expect a common loop or attachment ring on the tether "base" that stays around the tree would be the handiest method for attaching both the tethers as needed, and allowing the detaching of the upper end of the climbing tether for re-positioning once you're there and ready for it to be stored elsewhere until needed again.
Be simple to connect to the "hunting" tether and disconnect from the climbing tether, then re-position the upper end of the climbing tether to an out-of-the-way location that way, even with the double width.
The "hunting" tether could remain unless you want to take it with you for use elsewhere, but you'd probably want to attach the upper end of the "climbing" tether with a hefty caribiner to avoid the need for tying and untying every time. A bungee cord should handle the secure tie-off to more convenient location easily and quietly.

A second tether up top might be the only answer for a double ladder stand.
I use lifelines with my loc ons but use just a tether up top on my ladder stands.
