Well, the big boy didn't come out to play like he did last night. But I take a measure of comfort in thinking that if he had, I'd have been showing him off in the bed of my truck right now. I've changed venues and type this from the cozy confines of the treehouse in the valley of Laughery Creek. Will hike up my little mountain in the morning and give it another go. Supposed to be cold and the wind is supposed to be considerably lighter. We shall see.

Had 2 more does hit the far end of the food plot at 705. Finally at 725 I had a shot at one. Approximately 30 yards. Don't know what happened but I hit her back enough to catch intestines. Found where she crossed to the neighbors still bleeding ok. Backed out and going back at first light hoping to find her. Seen a total of 6: 1 button buck, a doe fawn, and 4 mature does. All hitting the food plot.

I am I the buddy stand in the oaks where I killed my 123 inch 8 pointer last year. This spot produced a parade of deer last year as it was an acorn hotspot in a drought year. This year, EVERYBODY has acorns, so I don't expect parades. But it only takes one. Wind is MUCH lighter this morning.

I am not a bow hunter anymore due to an injury. I am waiting for our early M/L 2-day season which is on October 18 & 19th. COLD down here this morning with heavy frost!!! 33 degrees as of 7:30 am EDT.

Hunting can sure humble you. I could not have drawn up better conditions for my set this morning. I mean perfect down to the last detail. I saw nothing. I was pretty surprised. I wasn't expecting to see 30 or anything, but did not see getting skunked as a probability. Not sure if I'll hunt this evening or not. I'll let the girls decide. If they want to hunt, we will hunt. I have a week of work to put in and then it's my 2 week fall break!

Buck Down buck down. I have trailed him to a fence. I cant find him or the owner of the property he is possibly on. He isnt the biggest. I dont know why but i feel like i hit him in the chest. but now im have second thoughts.

I dont know why but i feel like i hit him in the chest. but now im have second thoughts. Hope you find him. The biggest thing is that bowhunters get so caught up in the moment that the don't pay attention to where the arrow strikes the animal. I know, as I sometimes think I hit a deer in precisely a certain spot and when I recover it I find that the shot was not quite where I thought it was. I swore that my first arrow into my buck last year was a gutshot, but after anchoring him with a second shot (in the heart), I discovered that the first arrow was a strike to the liver. That reminds me -- this evening is the same day (first Sunday of season) that I took that 164" back last year. I have the same wind that I had that day, so I'm going to head out to that stand in a few minutes. LOL!

So I could see where the arrow went after it left the string.

I've got good blood till a field and goes cold.
