Setting at my parents in northern Dearborn county tonight. Put a groundblind up for the youth season and I'm setting in it. Too windy to be up a tree. Overlooking our food plot. My brother hunted this morning and seen 2 does.

I am set up in a ladder stand in the deepest holler in this property. I am somewhat out of the strong winds down here. A ridge rises sharply to the north and south of me. I'm sitting 20yardsup from the main drainage draw on the property. It was from this stand that I missed the biggest buck I've ever shot at 2 years ago (perhaps a Booner...but I'll never know). I bumped one doe walking in . One good thing is the wind is much more consistent here, out of WSW.

Had 10 hens 50-60 yards from my blind when I got here. Just had a 1.5 y.o. doe come out of nowhere to 25 yards, but never offered a shot. She didn't like something and took off flagging down the food plot.

In an elevated box blind tonight to stay out of the wind and rain about 175 yards from where I shot the doe opening evening. I only have the propane heater on low since I am not a wimp.

Doe with a fawn of each sex hit the food plot on the far end about 15 minutes ago. Might take a shot at the doe if given the opportunity.

Just got settled. Not as windy in deep woods. Seen a chipmunk and one squirrel dropping nuts.

For last 1/2 hour, I've moved to the corner of the field where big buck came out at last light yesterday. I'm tucked in under s big beech tree behind a big log. If he does same thing tonight he's a dead man!

I broke a cardinal rule tonight and I'm beating myself up over it. I saw 2 doe walk in about an hour before dark. Nothing after. I decided to get down out of my stand about 10 minutes before complete dark. As I'm untying my bow from my stand string there's a large doe about 10 yards away from me just watching. As soon as I turn she bolts. Would have been a perfect shot!
