For those who may want to know, I was in Greenwood Gander Mt. earlier today and they had a pretty good supply of Remington and Federal .22 bulk pack for $24.99. Beats the $75- $100 the scalpers were asking a few months back.

The BassPro and Dick's both seem to be getting .22 ammo in with much more regularity. I picked up a brick of CCI Blazer a week or so ago @ BassPro for (I believe) $21.99.

I've been shooting more now since I got a couple of new guns. I got my old .22 out and did a little practice with it too. I did notice a lot of 22 spent shell casings laying on the pad at the shooting benches. So people are still shooting a lot of 22 ammo at the range.
I visit Gander Mountain a lot but have not found them to be in supply of 22 LR ammo other than one time in the last year. Maybe I was lucky and went there on a day that they got a new shipment of 22LR ammo in. All the other times over the last year they are normally out of 22LR ammo. Maybe they keep some back and sell it to only certain people. I was offered some ammo one day by one of the salemen who told me that he sees me in there buying stuff a lot and thought I was a good customer so he offered to sell me a brick from the back. I should have bought some that day but I'm not really into shooting 22 LR anymore since I got my AR15 and Walther PPQ pistol 9mm. I don't really shoot my Ruger 10/22 rifle much these days. I've had it since the early 1970's and have not really shot it very much. I hunted squirrels with it years ago and then cleaned it up and put it in storage for many years before getting it out again to shoot with. Since then I cleaned it up good and put it back in storage again. I still have some 22 LR ammo but I'm saving it for if I went to go squirrel hunting again. But I lost the woods where I used to squirrel hunt as a teenager. A dentist purchased the woods and put up no trespassing signs everywhere. And the university purchased the other woods I use to hunt in and now it's full of college kids walking the trails in the woods. So I can't hunt there anymore. All my hunting spots have been developed or purchased. The farms and fields of the old days are all developed into subdivisions or college campuses. Habitat loss is bad for hunters and wildlife.
One the other hand there are still coyotes, wild turkeys, crows and red foxes traveling though my parents yard where I use to live years ago. I might setup a blind and try to shoot the coyotes that travels though my mom's yard on occasion.
There is still a wood lot across the street from her house but that's been developed as well. A guy purchased the ten acres of woods and built a long gravel driveway that leads back into the middle of that wood lot and he built his house back there. So that's off limits too. I use to have permission to hunt back there for squirrels and to fish a pond back there from the previous owner. There are white tailed deer that live in those woods and they cross the road and travel though my mom's yard all the time. The neighbors on both sides of the road feed those deer corn all the time. But both the ladies that use to feed the deer have stopped due to health issue and death. One died and the other is in a nursing home due to old age and health issues. So the deer have to find other food. Maybe that's why the coyotes are coming around more often. They are chasing the deer I guess. When the neighbors stopped feeding the deer they suddenly lost their food supply and don't have it so easy now. There is not enough food in those woods to keep a large herd of deer healthy. And the coyotes are quick to kill any hungry and weak deer in the area. Without any hunting both species go back to the natural system of predator and prey population balances.

Our local Walmart hasn't had any type or brand of .22 ammunition for three years now. Back in 2009, they were well stocked with .22 LR ammunition, even had collector's wood boxes of 500 .22 LR. BUT not now!!

I was in the Greensburg Rural King Saturday buying some .357 mag ammo for my daughter and noticed they did not have any .22 ammo.

I got a brick of CCI last week from Midway. I could have also bought more of other brands, but I already know what my rifles like and the CCIs were the only ones I could use.
It was probably the week before last that I got them.
