Have any trophy Bucks been taken on the south end of the old Jefferson Proving Ground in Jefferson County, Indiana during the past few years ? That area used to be full of giant Bucks around the old military buildings. I believe that area is now privately owned and managed for trophy Bucks.

Not in the south end, but in the central area 14, I took a shot at a giant by the (air reserve?) whatever it is called. I had an Encore 20ga that shot real good at 200yd, but this buck was at approx. 300yd, and I aimed a foot over it's back, and my buddy said he saw dust fly in front of him. I normally would never take a shot like that but it was a buck of a lifetime for me and we were heading back to the truck to throw in the towel. That was at 2:00pm in 2006. Nowadays he would be in trouble with a major upgrade in firepower with smokeless muzzleloaders, plus allowing pistols in there now my Encore would go with me. I have only been drawn twice since then, last time was around 2010, and we were skunked. I didn't even go last year after the rash of no deer sighting reports. Hope that changes in the future because it is such a neat place to go.

A three hundred yard poke n hope with a 20 gauge?
Thankfully it was a clean miss.
Ethics shouldn't go out the window because a big rack appears.

Younger and dumber days gone by. Mostly out of spur of the moment surprise, frustration, shock, dumb. I know. Jay

I think one of the members here who hunts at Big Oaks NWR has pictures of the big Buck that was found off K Road. I think a member of the Air Force found the Buck last year. It scored over 220 inches.

The Buck scored 228 inches. It was found by a member of the Air Force up in the Air Force area off K Road in the north central part of Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge.
I believe the far south end of what used to be Jefferson Proving Ground is now a hunting ranch or outfitter land. This area is down around the Big Oaks Office and all the old military buildings. That area is full of giant Bucks.
