After spending the last few days on vacation in Charleston, SC, I got back to my "tree house" project today. Today, I got the walls up and door hung...might have gotten the roof on too, if I hadn't lost an hour and a half getting my truck unstuck from a muddy mess (that was NOT fun). Here are som pics of where it stands now. Here is a pic looking down on it from behind. Tomorrow I'll be back down to roof it. Then all that will be left is to trim up the outside, build a stairway, and improve the deck railing. We will finish the inside a little at a time as we decide what we want in there.

Starting to look good. Are you also going to use this as a elevated blind for Deer Hunting?? Good luck in completing your project, metamorahunter.

Not using this for hunting. This is for my daughter to stay in once we have everything built. We will be building a larger cabin just down below this eventually. Until then, I'll stay in this when I'm down overnight,

The tree house is now under roof! Still lots of work to do, but the heavy work is complete. Need to button up the gaps, trim the exterior, build the stairway up to the deck. Those jobs will be done on the next weekend with good weather. Then we will finish the interior. Fun stuff--but I am pooped!

Got quite a bit of the exterior trim done today. Got the door knob and dead bolt installed. Also built a stair case. This is wearing me out!

Really nice.. But don't you think a roof over that porch would be nice?

Stayed in the "treehouse" for the first time last night. It's officially broken in! Lots more interior finish work to do, but it's functional, just in time for turkey season! I got this chair for $35 at a flea market. Exactly the look I wanted, great shape, very comfy! I got this Mojo Cot from a guy on Craigslist for $100. They are the most comfortable cots I've ever laid on and more than long enough for my 6'5" frame to stretch totally out with room to spare. I took a personal day for this coming Friday, so I'll be staying there Thursday night and be ready to open my turkey season on Friday morning.

Yeah, I like the looks of that chair too. Looks almost like camo.
Enjoy!

Very nice looking & great job in the construction that tree house. Might want to make sure all the little holes are well plugged-up to keep wasps from entering and building nests.

The sealing of cracks and holes will be done today (I hope). The "expansion project" will be to close in the bottom so that it can be a garage for our atvs. That will be done this summer. Next summer we are having a bigger cabin built just below this one. At that time, ownership of the "treehouse" will transfer to my daughter. I designed the platform so that there would be enough room to park our atvs under it and also store a few tools and whatnots. I have the treated lumber down in Kentucky to enclose the lower level. I'll do that in June when school is out.

Well, I didn't quite get all the cracks sealed, but I did get one half sealed. Also installed a screen door. The wife and daughter (and dog) got to enjoy it for the first time. I'll be headed down Thursday night and will get after the turkeys on Friday.

Now that is the life!
I would suggest more cross bracing on your support timbers.

That is very cool. Thanks for posting the progress pictures. I enjoyed the build. I would love to have something like that on our property. It would give me a quiet place to sleep when the kids have sleepovers.
I hope the borer bees don't find it before you get the bottom enclosed. Those things are destructive.
