Think about the timeframe EHD hits. Deer are grouped up by gender. If the midges are in a water source the bucks frequent more, more bucks will die. If the effected water source attracts the doe group, more does will die. Sometimes I truly believe people simply over think the situation.

Weird how EHD seems to strike more bucks than does. One guys theory on this is bucks in velvet getting bite by midge's on growing antler's Not sure if that's why but my experience is, we seem to find 4 bucks to every doe found. I've heard that too, but I've never seen any documentation that verifies it.

Might be over thinking but in my local area's I have never heard of a large group of does being found but have seen and have heard of many multi bucks being found. My neighbor found 3 bucks in 1- 10' by 10' spring feed pool this fall. I have found 4 bucks last 3 year's directly behind my pond dam, but have never found a doe on my place. Just appears to effect more bucks then does?? Maybe not.
