Jon I must say, I truly am happy for you. Seems like you have been having a rough season but you kept going out and keeping your spirits high. Looks like it paid off! I may have missed this part of the convo already but, Im curious if you have any plans on a mount of some sort? Well, HCG said that I had to do a full mount, so I guess I will. I really don't think there are many deer on this postage stamp of woods; however, I only needed one. I'd still like to feed them next summer, but what I learned from that is that it makes no difference to feed them or not ...if one abides by the rules. I figure that I'll feed them close to where I want to put a food plot ...now that sounds like another plan!

Congrats, Way to get the job done! You deserve it, putting in all the work learning and hunting the best opportunities congrats. Bigbuckd, do you want to know what makes me happy. I get happy seeing guys like you post. I know that not everyone is as expressive as I am, or has as many stupid questions, but when I see a low post count post, I get happy. Thanks!

A full mount is pretty $ priccey $. Maybe he said full shoulder mount. Keep the cape in thefreezer so that it doesn't slip. Get it to the taxidermist as soon as you can.

Besides where would "Ella" let you put it?

This has been such a fun adventure to read along with. Literally felt like I was reading a journal or a book and couldn't wait to. Get to the next chapter! Congrats again on an awesome buck! Now let's hope I can stick mine Thank you barogers! Well, I certainly hope you get a good one. I'm going to be waiting on that photo; I love the photos. The next chapter is that there is still a BIG crab-claw buck in those woods. He is on my hit list now! I will carry his photo until the day I get him. ...like timex says, "I'm ruined for life now."

Well my dear friend! What an awesome day! One of the coolest parts to me is that we started with prayer before we went on the track. Like I said, We are human, and a dogs nose is amazing but God is all powerful and all knowing so we will seek his help first!!! It was an honor to help you and it was a great day for Duke, too. I just went out to the kennel and he's asking me "where that guy is that was giving him all the lovin"? I told him we'll see Jon another day on a bird hunt! I knew by "reading" Duke at last blood that the deer wasn't far away. At least that was my hope. And then to hear your voice crack at seeing the antlers...that's a memory I'll have the rest of my life. I can definitely say that Brother Jon has absolutely followed many great tips given to him from those on this site. Jon: You did an amazing job on this hunt and I was especially impressed with the tracking job you did before I ever arrived! You got her done buddy!!! And you have one HOSS of a buck (which is why we drug him out with your 4wheeler since together we couldn't get him lifted) with a FANTASTIC memory!!!

FREAKING AWESOME!!!! Great story. Pretty incredible this is a 7 page thread and it isn't talking about leasing, OBR, X-bows or any of that other garbage topics. Thanks for the story and breathing some good life back into the hunting forum! Ohhhhhhhh, thanks for having me! You guys are the ones encouraging me. I enjoy so much meeting anyone of you; how could anyone be more blessed???

I really wanted to hang him for a while, but it's going to get warm this week. I took him to the butcher tonight. The taxidermist will pick it up there.
