What is the closest deer you've ever shot, approximately, with a bow or gun (or both)? Finishing shots do not count..
A lot of people I talk to want to talk about some of the longer shots they have made on deer, but the closer shots are a lot more exciting to me.
My closest with a bow: 4 yards, straight down. A doe that was standing right at the bottom of my ladder stand.
With a gun: I have shot 2 bucks at approximately 20 yards with a gun, both were 7 pointers.

6-7 yards on a Whitetail with my bow. About 40 yards on a couple of Whitetail and one Elk with firearms.

I arrowed a doe while I was standing on a 4' tall tree stump shot was less than 10 feet away, I also had a spike buck lick my boot while standing on the same stump (no lie) when I got a little carried away with the wild persimmon scent gel haha. I thought about jumping on his back and going for a ride. I killed two nice 130+" bucks from same lucky stump but it has now rotted away upgraded to ladder stand on tree next to lucky stump

~6 yards with a bow, shot was really steep down, and the arrow didn't exit because it bottomed out on the rib cage where all the ribs come back together.
About the same with a gun, .357 magnum lever action rifle. I passed on a shot ~10-15 yds w/ a muzzleloader. She came in fast while I was on the ground, and I couldn't see anything but brown in the scope. The scope was turned up to 4.5x, and I had no idea where the brown was I could see.
Passing on that shot led to my longest shot - 140yds. I stood there ticked of at myself for having having left the scope turned up, when a buck came trotting across the field. Then I was glad I had left the scope turned up!

I didn't think about checking the price.

I can talk a lot, which is nice around a campfire. However, every once in a while I need a little help. I think you'd be great to have around a campfire.

Last year I shot a buck that was 8 yards from my ground blind with my H&R 44 Mag. I thought he was more like 10-15, but I walked it this year when I was moving my blind, and it was 8 yards.
Crazy, he came in behind me, the back window on my blind has a camo net screen with velcro around the edges. I usually take the screen down when I get to the blind, but this day I had forgot. I had to cut a hole in the screen with my pocket knife instead of undoing the noisy velcro. I stuck my barrel out the hole I had made, scoped the deer through the screen, and rest was history. No problem seeing the deer, just a lot of things I had to do to shoot, with him only 8 yards away....

Oh, I forgot about the time I jumped from my 20' ladder, I rode a 150''+ whitetail buck while cutting his throat with my grandads Case knife. That was the closest.

It blows a nice hole right through it..

I have shot right through the window netting on several occasions while turkey hunting. It blows a nice hole right through it.. Afterwords I wondered if I should've just done that..... I was thinking bow and arrow and not gun, and worried it'd throw my shot somehow. You know that moment when you're about to shoot a deer, you got a thousand things going through you head. At least I do.

I read somewhere that you can even shoot an arrow through that screen, but I'm not thinking that I'll do it.

About 8 feet. I was completely convinced the deer would come down the trail across the stream, not the one behind me.

Closest shot was straight down with a bow. Early in my bow hunting career. I learned that day not to take that shot. Non-fatal hit. Pretty nice buck too.

Closest with a bow was directly under my climber, maybe a foot away from the tree. There was actually blood on the trunk of the tree when I climbed down. It was quite a few years ago, I had to lean out over the side of the stand and shoot instinctively as there was no way to shoot with my sights with that form. Wouldn't do it again but it worked that day.
Can't really think over any super close shots with a gun. Lots of 10-15yd shots but nothing closer that I can remember.
