I saw a video of a guy blowing up a deer with an air gun and and claimed the hide all just slid off after that.
I did it to a head shot squirrel ONE time. I could see it if you have a lot of them to do and an air gun in a handy place to use it.
I just cut a slit in the back like you would if you've ever seen the "shirt and pants" method. Meh, it's kind a iffy but I hate to clean squirrels any way.

I learned by cutting a small hole in the skin on the back then putting my fingers on either side then pulling in oppisite directions. Other than that everything else is the exact same. I’m more of a rabbit person though, and my grandpa showed me the airman way. You grab the rabbit with both hands close to the top legs and then you squeeze towards the stomach. After that you continue to squeeze while you bring the rabbit way above your head then fling it between your legs with its bottom legs going between your legs first. It took me a few tries the first time but sure enough it works. Not sure if it will work on a squirrel though might have to ask my grandpa. Anyone else done this method for squirrel or rabbit?

So, hunting large game with an air gun? Yep, folks do it. I love the idea, but some of the cost is above my price range. Although, I sunk about 300 total into a break barrel, scope, etc. only to find out last month, the damn barrel is warped. Other than using dynamite, if you have a legal means (including method) to hunt, and an appropriate license, more power to you on the method.

I clean mine right after I kill them. Game shears to clip off the paws, tail and head. Snip a slot across the back and pull apart. Use the shears to cut from anus up through ribcage and then rip the guts out.
Takes maybe 2 minutes.

Pretty sure he was talking about using compressed air to loosen the skin, not to kill the deer. I could be wrong. Jack is no longer a member here so no asking.

I was in Arkansas last week at Mack's Prairie Wings and picked this up. Supposed to work really well. My main reason for stopping there was to try on different chest waders to find a pair that would fit. I did, but it took a while.

I skin squirrels just like the video, nothing to it. That's how grandpa showed us.
Last several years I've been deboning my squirrels after butchering and make various recipes such as pot pie, shepherds pie, casseroles, etc. Everyone seems to eat it much more readily over fried leg and back pieces.

I debone every rabbit I get, but never tried it on the squirrels. May have to start deboning the older squirrels that I bake in instant soups. I wouldn't get my fingers so messy eating them.

This is my squirrel cleaning board and squirrels in stages of gutting. First is removing front legs after cutting feet off with shears. Next is splitting pelvis and belly to remove guts. Next is cutting behind ribs and using shears on the spine and throwing that all away at once since I never keep the ribs. Depending how I intend to cook it, I will just use shears to cut off the back feet and leave it all together for baking or I will go ahead and cut the back at the hips and also separate the legs as frying pieces.

You have to save the tails and tie some crappie jigs now.
