Just bought a new T/C triumph, pretty pumped to setup and sighted in. I'm going to order some scope mounts but not sure if i should get med or high rise? The only reson i thought of the high rise mount would be for easy access to the breech plug. but not sure how it would "feel" holding gun to shoot. What do most of you like on your t/c's? Thanks

Doesn't matter the rifle, always get your scope as close to the barrel as possible. Use the lowest ring that you can get. Go by the scope bell, most scope manufacturers will have a chart on their website telling you what to use.
As for the hammer, buy a hammer extension approved by T/C. If it;s too heavy, it will slow down the fall of the hammer enough to cause a weak primmer strike and a misfire. Some that you buy off of eBay are made too heavy,

Get the lowest rings you can. I don't think the BP will be an issue but like Timex said you may want a hammer extension. My prohunter has a swing hammer but not sure about that option on the Triumph.

Sorry ment to put that in OP, Its a 40mm scope, so Med would be the lowest. After doing some more research, i found few guys using med on tc triumph and have no issue with the BP.. I also read few guys were running high mounts, both seemed to work, from what your saying, sounds like i'll be better off with the med??. Thanks

YMMV but, I cannot get a good cheek weld with the high mounts.

And without a good cheek weld accuracy will suffer. Use as low as you can.

I would think Med rings would work the lower the better.

Without knowing what scope.hes using there is no way to know rings will work. Depends on the scope, 40 mm can set lower than a 50 mm etc.

"Sorry meant to put that in OP, Its a 40mm scope" You will be just fine with medium rings. I personally use Weaver Tatical Rings on my TC Encore Pro.

What about the Talley one piece mounts, they look pretty well made and have good reviews. Anyone have them? I was also looking at weaver..

I put a talley on my t/c endeavor, very easy to install and it works great. No problems with it at all. Medium, for me. Didnt like the high.

The only reson i thought of the high rise mount would be for easy access to the breech plug. but not sure how it would "feel" holding gun to shoot. What do most of you like on your t/c's? Thanks I use a peep sight on my Muzzle Loading rifle. I have mounted a scope on it but cleaning it after firing became an issue & a big deal so I bought a T/C peep sight. I use one of the smokeless subsitutes "triple 7" 2F grade which makes clean-up a bit easier. If you insist on using a scope and use either pyrodex or black powder, then you might want to buy a cleaning tube where you replace the removeable nipple with the cleaning tube nipple, tighten by hand and place the end of the tube in clean HOT & SOAPY water and draw-in the solution from the muzzle end a few times with a tight cleaning patch then again with a clean patch & hot clean water until the soapy water is removed from the bore. Then dry & oil bore. Don't forget to clean the breech plug too!

Cheekweld is everything. It all depends on how your face is built. On a buddy's gun, he has a good cheek weld when looking thru the scope. When I shoulder the gun I'm looking at the back of the receiver......
The only way to know for sure is to bite the bullet, buy a set of mediup rings and mount the scope. Lower is better than higher for accuracy.

I have 4 Encore MZ's as well as an older TC Hawken and I had that Omega I gave to the youth hunt this year - from what I have seen TC makes their stocks with a low comb to use the open sights - I would definitely look at at least a cheek pad to raise your eye alignment up to the scope level. I have pads and some aftermarket stocks. I will eventually have aftermarket stocks for all of them for scope use - I am starting to appreciate scopes more as I grow older
As far as a hammer spur try Mike Bellm - I have a few of his and love them - aluminum and durable and they stay put like they are supposed to. I have friends who buy others and they have lost them during a hunt...just fell off somewhere in the woods...never had an issue with one of Bellm's.
