Does anyone have any recommendations on what kind of sabot shoots best out a CVA optima? It is the optima 209 magnum and i am planning on shooting 777 pellets. I just bought the gun and havent had a chance to shoot it yet.

I have the Optima Pro and I shoot Barnes TMZ 250 grain with 100 grains Blackhorn powder. I tried shockwaves and powerbelts and neither would shoot well, but that was before I switched to Blackhorn. I highly recommend this powder. It shoots accurately shot after shot and is a lot easier to clean up.

Thanks for your advice. Have you tried the T-EZ by barnes?

I haven't tried the T-EZ. I was going to, but they were out when I went to get some, so I just went with the TMZ. I will be trying more combinations out of the gun throughout the spring and summer.

Mine shoots the Powerbelt platinum very well. But as we all know every gun and load is a bit different.

does the tmz load hard in your cva? That is going to be the decision maker for me between the tmz and the te-z. I have read that some people have a hard time loading tmz's. I dont know how true it is. Most have been in TC's.

They load just fine in mine. No problems at all. Even when shooting 2 or 3 in row without cleaning.

No problem at all. Hope they work out for you and if not just keep trying different combinations.

I shoot Hornady FPB bullets. They don't use a sabot. They have worked great for me.

i shoot the cva wolf 209 with 777 100 grains and the245 powerbelt or t/c shockwave , xtp hp 240 grain and they all three are impressive but if i were to choose one i would buy the 245 grain aero tip and take the tips off and shoot hollow point very accurate out to 150 yards. i have a konus 3 9x32 scope with the durasight dead on scope mount im willing to trade for your fiber optics on the optima.. just throwing that out there..

I shoot 300 grain shockwaves w/ 100 grains of Triple 7. I bought a box of Hornady 245 grain XTP's today. I am NOT a fan of the XTP's.
