I shoot a .54 cal T/C Maxiball for elk (discontinued, but I have 60 of them stashed away for whenever I get a chance) because they're huge (430 gr) and penetrate really well. I shoot patch and ball for deer and practice because it's cheap, highly accurate out of my 1:48 twist, plenty of knockdown power for deer, and is just more fun for me personally. When I lived down in Indiana all I used out of my T/C renegade was patch and round ball over 80 grains of FFF. Killed several deer around the hundred yard mark .

Hornady SST 250 gr Why, cause it blows holes in them. This is what I used and I was very happy with the performance, so I will continue using these. I use these in a MMP Black sabot as well...match made it heaven.

My vote would be for the Barnes if you gun shoots them well. Ultimately I feel it comes down to what your gun shoots best. Exactly! Every Rifle shoots differently..buy several and shoot them, try different powder charges, primers, bullets etc. until you find one your rifle like..don't go by what works well in another guys Muzzleloader..do the research, it will be well worth the effort.

I like both Powerbelts and T/C Shock Waves.

I shoot Powerbelts, but to have a Powerbelt perform properly don;t shoot over 80 grains of powder..I use BH209 80 grains adn they are deadly accurate and expand well with no fragmenting...most guys made a msitake shooting Powerbelts with 100-120 grains of powder or more...extensive testing has been done on Powerbelts and they work great at charges under 80 grains (by volume.)..I love em! 100 yards and less than 1inch groups with the CVA Accura V2..Awesome bullet
