With all of the auction hunter shows on TV, it got me thinking about what kind of treasures real life people have found.
For me, it was when I saw an auction on the way home from work one time. I only had a $5 bill in my wallet, but decided to stop and see what they had. I bought a tripod mounted lever action clay bird thrower, 3 water skis, and an almost brand new knee board. And I left with $2 left in my pocket. They weren't the most valuable items, but that was about the best deal I have ever found.

I bought a Bear Grizzly recurve bow in almost new condition for $40 once. Such a bow would cost a lot more new these days.

Must admit that I've never been to a yard sell or Auction. Know you can find some interesting stuff there though.

Bought an oxy-acetylene torch set, without the bottles for $5 at an auction once. Had the regulators, hoses and both cutting and welding tips for the torch. ;D dadfsr has it now. With *small* bottles, I've been seeing torch sets in excess of $400 recently.

250' steel measuring tape still in the box-handle hadn't even been put on it yet...it was in the bottom of a box of "assorted junk" that I got for a quarter. Use it all the time at work now!

1000 rounds of .223 ammo, MEC reloader, 50 lbs of lead shot, couple hundred wads, 4-5 boxes of steel waterfowl shot and a few other miscellaneous hunting / reloading items.
$120 at a yardsale.
Turned around and sold 1/2 of the ammo on here and the rest was FREE!

I go to auctions every chance I get. My best score would probably be a Stihl 066 chainsaw for 45.00. These saws are now well over a 1000 bucks. The one I bought just need a new fuel line and carb kit. I go to Dinky's auction Barn in Davies County about every Friday night and get some incredible bargins.

I was thinking about going to Dinky's this Friday. My wife and kids are heading up north for other family function stuff that I get to bail on due to work so thought I'd kill some time at the auction house. Have never been. Maybe I'll see you there.

I picked up a food grade stainless steel sink and table with backsplash and legs for $50. It's 30" deep, about 8' long and the backsplash is about 6" high. With faucet for hot/cold water.

I filled my toolbox by buying broken Craftsman tools for pennies and taking them back to Sears to exchange them for new ones. I bought a broken anvil (don't ask me how they broke it) for fifty cents and got a brand new one for it.
