Looks great to me. I agree the EAB is a bad idea anywhere but what can you do. I hunted 3 years at Newport under the EAB and it flat sucked. Those willing to fudge were shooting bucks, those willing to toe the letter of the line stood the chance of watching a deer or two of a lifetime walk right by. It happened to me at least 2 times and a 3rd time it was a dandy but not a deer of a lifetime. I know several that would have dropped it and tagged it off base in a heart beat.
Might have to get a X-bow and see which I like best now!
Thanks for listening IDNR and NRC.

Now we all need to give them kudos during the comment period, the same as we did when we were complaining. Yes sir, By all means do it.

[ As for myslef not having to pay for a license ... pretty sure I already have. When did you pay for a crossbow license? 10 years ago. Its called a "comprehensive" license and included all current and future licenses/tags. You know that isnt what I meant but I will play your silly game with you.

I can deal with the revised proposals. I'm expecially excited to be able to utilize a crossbow during all of archery & being able to bundle purchase the tags.

sucks, guess if this crap goes thru no worrying about the leasing and outfitting, right? Whatever, control enough ground and you don't have to worry about antiquated state management. Brown and down!

I am glad that the "average" hunter thoughts were listened to. I didn't think they would be. I know i wrote everyone at the DNR, my congressman, and even Govenor Mitch. I told all my friends and i think they did the same. Hopefully everyone will get along now, let's be thankful that we didnt lose time in the field to hunt and we can all go out with the weapons we choose to hunt with and enjoy the hoosier outdoors. I assume my lifetime license will cover any new tags? I can live with what I read in the first post in this thread. Actually pretty good IMO. No one answered about doing away with the "dead week" between firearms and ML season. Will archery continue thru that week?
Hat's off to DNR for these proposals. BUT do NOT think for a moment the "stakeholders" have gone away. They need to be watched VERY closely from now on. We've seen their agenda.

The best option would be to sell a tag, period. You can only kill one buck, what the hell difference does it make what you kill it with. I tend to agree. However, I understand the funding problems the DNR has due to the lifetime license sales and whether they want to admit it or not, increasing license revenue is a necessary evil that I can't really take issue with under the circumstances. Maybe a change along these lines could be proposed when the state is able to allocate more funding to the DNR once again. The bundled license is at least a step in the right direction. The crossbow license is perplexing and not welcomed at all...... For what plausable reason other than that you personally oppose someones choice of hunting tool ? This is a sensible proposal that I can support unless there are some hidden surprises.

Wonder if you will now need a crossbow license to bow hunt turkeys in the fall with a crossbow?
Why don't you have to buy an archery turkey tag in the spring if you are bowhunting?
This state makes no sense.

Now we all need to give them kudos during the comment period, the same as we did when we were complaining. Please, everyone who took the time to share their opinion locally or written, take the time to support and appreciate the DNR for their efforts with this. Not just a note of "Thanks for listening to me" or "We won". Truly let them know that we appreciate all the work they do.

I like graphs! Looks like crossbows are not in the Urban deer zones in September and January?? That can cause some confusion...

I think you are looking at it wrong. It is separating out "urban" zones/season from the "regular" hunting areas. It isn't referencing a weapon during that time, which I presume is archery ... not sure about crossbows, but I hope they are included as well.
