I want to get mine early and then help my brother in law on the weekends when I can concentrate on his bird.

Since I live smack dab on the Ohio River I can bop on over to KY and hunt them too. 2 in KY and 1 in Indiana... I just take them as they come.

Get it quick then help dad and others. Not much beats caaling one in late in the season though, a little more pressure and a little more pleasure when it all comes together!

I don't like the pressure all that much.I like to get mine in the bag and move on to other folks.I don't get one early very often it seems.

I can only devote the first few days, so my vote is of necessity. I am off that tuesday, and have taken wednesday through Sunday off. It will be the most time I have been able to devote to hunting turkeys in several years! Just hope the turkey are not as scarce this year. I am waaay overdue to drop a longbeard. I am chomping at the bit here. Of course, also with a turkey out of the way early, all your attention can focus on the shrooms and crappie. Its just a hectic time of year I tell ya! ;D

Early, I don't want to take any more vacation days than necessary just for one bird.

I don't care really especially this year. My Turkey Palooza trip will be over before Indianas season starts so if I tag out the first hour of our season I'll just call for others or whatever.

I'd rather tag out in a few days, that way I can take friends out hunting the rest of the season. I like calling them for other guys almost (not quite though) as much as hunting one up for myself.

Unless it's a jake.... I'm taking the first opportunity at a longbeard I get.

Another reason I like to get them early is I think the ticks are worse in the last week than the first.

I will definitely attempt to take the first long beard that comes my way. Since I am going after them with a bow, I will not turn down an opportunity at anytime.

Last year I hunted 3 days and killed 3 birds. I'm not a good turkey hunter, I just was at the right place at the right time. I've had seasons where I've killed the last week of the season. It can be the easiest thing in the world or the hardest.
I've enjoyed it both ways. I didn't vote either way.

Doesn't matter to me if I get a bird or not. The more I can be outdoors and try to bag others a bird the better. I usually have more time to spend outdoors than most of my friends so if they are around on our lease i'll do the calling and hope we bag a double. And if a single comes in normally they will take the shot. The thrill to me is greater to see someone else take one!!!

I voted stretch it out!! I got off work opening morning last season and stopped by the woods on the way home. There was a bird gobbling, so I changed clothes and headed into the woods.
About 30 minutes later I had him about 20 yards and had my buddy on the phone listening to him gobble. The bird finially got bored and wondered off after about 20 minutes of standing in the same place not making a sound.
I ended up shooting an Indiana bird on the last day that I had to hunt. The Friday before season went out.

gobblerstopper, I sometimes "stretch it out" too although I don't actually mean too. I've killed birds the first day of the season and the next to last day - and sometimes not at all. Good to see you back posting. We've got a turkey "contest" going if you care to join in. .

Numerous season's i have been done in a few days with still 2 weeks off to go. Bummer! And finding somebody to go with can sometimes b tuffer than u think. Frankly, im surprised the good majority to this point opted for a quick season. With my hunting prospects in regards to having a place to hunt frighteningly dwindling, i can see my season getting stretched out! Peabodys about gone, every farm thats holds even minimal prospects are leased out. I yearn for the good ole days of few turkeys bit plenny of room
