One complete, not even close, out of the zip code type, just last year. Then missed a too brushy shot at one the next weekend that I knew I had gotten shot into. I kept hunting that bird and got him on the last day of Indiana season. He was well worth the effort! Before that I had shot clean for about 20+ birds. The wheels just fell off! ???Oh well I'm at one in a row now. ;D

Once. Early in my turkey hunting career. Opening morning, shortly after first light, a buddy and I had yelped one short sequence each at three frantically gobbling toms. They crossed a small creek, made a beeline toward us and split on both sides of me. I had three gimme shots (30 yds. or less), and was trying to pick out which one to shoot. I made a quick decision, and as I squeezed the trigger, he bobbed his head downward. Needless to say, I sent a nice, tight pattern right over his head. Bye, bye turkeys! I attribute this failure to inexperience. I've learned a lot since then. Learned to read a turkeys body language and most important, never hesitate with the shot. With deer, it's slow and deliberate. With turkeys, you best be ready!

None. Sadly, I have not fired a single shot at a turkey yet. . . . I can tell you the most frustrating trip out though. My brother and I were set up about 25 yards apart, on top of a ridge. We had 1, maybe 2 toms coming in, gobbling every now and then just to let us know where they were. My first expectation of taking a tom was almost within range! And there were 3 of them! Looked like we might actually double with a little luck. So, just as they passed behind some brush, I moved my gun into position, intending to let them all step out and fire the second my brother dropped one. . . . . Yeah, that was the game plan. Enter my own personal version of luck. Just as one of them poked his head out on the other side of the foliage, two hoot owls starting fighting right over our heads, just slightly behind us. Funny thing about turkey is they are uppity birds who don't socialize much with hoot owls. I am told hoot owls will kill a turkey, and apparently the turkey have heard this also. They went out much quicker than they came in. And that is the closest I have so far come to shooting a turkey.

I shot at two before i killed my first one which was last year. One of them flopped around for two - three seconds before it took off on wing and i could get the gun back up. The other saw me move my gun and start off and i took a bad shot. As I tell all hunters, the first one is always the hardest to kill! h.h.

I used a recurve several years ago and had a tom come running in chasing some jakes away from my decoy. I shot and hit its leg and it flew off.

Twice. Once in Kentucky at LBL and once here in Indiana.
The one in Kentucky I was turned and shooting behind me but I had a scope so I shouldn't have missed. The one in Indiana was just too far....stupid shot!

Never a clean miss..... I've knocked one over and it got up running and I had to nail it on the run, but never a 'whiff'.

If you haven't missed yet....you haven't been turkey hunting long. Sooner or later it will happen to the best of us. A couple of years back I decided to change my hunting set up with my shot gun. I went with a supper tight choke and changed my sighting system. I lost 3 birds that year. I went back to the old choke and just looking down the barrel and bead. It worked for years before and has worked fine every since.
