There are the "Major Stakeholders" & then there are us the "Minor Stakeholders" as the NRC system currently operates.....

Every time I see this it ticks me off. To me a stakeholder is someone that owns part of something, so to me anyone that hunts deer in Indiana is a "stakeholder". The way I see it the true "stakeholders" are about to get the shaft because per the survey the real "stakeholders" said they did not support any shortening of the current seasons. This excuse of herd reduction is really funny because the last time I checked we have been setting record harvests and the antlerless bag limit is very liberal and then there is the fact that people will only kill a certain number of deer regardless of seasons, dates or bag limits. I really feel bad for the firearm only deer hunter. This will proposal will not really effect me beacause I hunt with all weapons and primarily archery so I will still hunt 50+ days a year and kill the same amount of deer I always kill, but this is not about me this is about what is fair for all Indiana deer hunters. I know how passionate I am about deer hunting and if I was only a firearm hunter knowing that I was only going to get 9 days to partake in the event that I look forward to and think about every day of the year I would be fighting mad. Try buying a 300.00 firesarms tag and having only 7 days to hunt in Illinois.... and you're crying about a 24.00 tag to hunt 9 days...You guys whine like a bunch of women...Geeze!...we had it too good for too long...Time to start managing the herd properly like other States..instead of the two week slaughterfest...

You're right because Illinois is the pinnacle of deer management no overpopulation of deer over there.

The "stakeholders" should rename themselves - The Shadow IDNR.
Think about it. The self appointed "board" of the Indiana Sportsmen's Roundtable looks like the who is who of the past IDNR and their affiliates. They have TWO ex-IDNR Directors (the big cheeses) plus various others. They get in on the decision making process while the general public gets completely shut out. As we found out later the on line survey was a cruel hoax on us. Nothing that we liked or wanted to stay the same was even considered. Even though it was overwhelming. Now we see that the Indiana Sportsmens' Roundtable is conducting public meetings, where I am sure they will present their side. No meetings from the IDNR? Hmm? In fact the IDNR looks like it wants to fly this under the radar screen of the Indiana deer hunters. You can find this proposal on the IDNR website IF you go looking for it. Absolutely no bulletin sent out, was there? Anyone see anythng in their local papers? Curious, isn't it? A Shadow IDNR.. just what we don't need.

You're right because Illinois is the pinnacle of deer management no overpopulation of deer over there. That is why the politicans are talkimg the Illinois deer management over. Not true....they are doing exactly the same as the Indiana legislature has done. Heck maybe they will cut the 3 day season down to 1.5 days?

Well their herd is way out of control so we will see what happens in the next couple of years. They will ultimately have to do something to increase their antlerless harvest my guess is they will need to increase the amount of firearms days.

Why has not Phil Bloom sent this out as a Wildlife Bulletin so more hunters will know what is being proposed? Why not solicit hunter input that way? Where is the head of IDNR communications on this? Nary a peep.

Anyone know how the very liberal anti-gun city of Bloomington got to be a "stake holder"?
Between the anti-gunners and IBA the gun hunters didn't have a chance!

I feel bad for those that will be blindsided by this and I intend to warn as many people as I can. I, however, have zero sympathy for those gun only hunters that gladly supported the OBR never caring (or perhaps realizing) that they were always the real target. You reap what you sow and their is no better teacher in life than suffering the consequences of your actions. I hope some of those that so willing sold out the rest of us realize that they sold out themselves as well. I hope their eyes are now open, because this will not be the end.

We will go directly to a two day gun and a one day muzzleloader the last three days of December with 2 hours at sunrise each day to kill bucks, that'll learn'em and really thin the deer for sure ;D
